Businesses are already suffering and now many items, previously available for purchase, are verboten? Really! Why doesn’t the government just shoot the store owner and padlock the store doors?

“These are not normal times and there is a good case for more intrusive policing and surveillance measures to stem a pandemic.”

The key then, is never to allow the crisis to end, until another crisis can be contrived. A permanent surveillance state will be deemed a necessary evil, and the minority that still call for its end will be marginalized. Once this is the new normal, you won’t even need a crisis to maintain it, not very often, anyway.

— mass surveillance and tracking
— universal basic income (UBI)
— mass government dependence
— economic depression
— hardcore precedent fedgov by decree
