Our so-called leaders speak
With words they try to jail you
They subjugate the meek
But it’s the rhetoric of failure

Haven’t the comfy “experts” pretty much been wrong about everything in this whole fiasco?

They’re already well-paid and get to keep their jobs, so any choices they make will have zero economic impact on them. How convenient.

So let’s consider some other opinions and then weigh ALL the evidence, not just the “experts” conclusions.

Yeah lets keep it shut down for a year and we will look like zimbabwe

We will be in a full blown civil war if we're not up and running by Independence Day.

Here’s a couple of pearls of wisdom (as always from The Hill) from the comments section (we really need to distance ourselves from these mentally disordered persons):

“Herbert Hoover Trump is your candidate, Trumpskis.

Do any of you remember ‘It’s The Economy, Stupid’?”

“Can you imagine how Trump will suffer in Federal prison without his only friend, his phone? He’ll go stark raving mad. I know, I know...but even worse. Just three walls, a set of steel bars and a roomy named Bubba. They could put a webcam on that scene and it would be the most watched cam on the planet. Really great ratings, best ever seen, everybody is telling me, great, just great.”

writer is Reid Wilson. he states:

“By the weekend, more Americans will have died from the coronavirus than in any country outside of China or Iran, authoritarian countries without transparency where the true death tolls are unknown.”

why would he include “China” whose alleged death toll is a mere 3,339, according to the latest figure I saw today? moreover, why not report PER CAPITA figures compared to Italy, Spain, France, UK and Iran, for a more accurate accounting of the numbers?

14 Jul 2016: The Hill: Reid Wilson returns to The Hill
By Joe Concha
Reid Wilson, one of Washington’s most accomplished journalists, is returning to The Hill.
Wilson, recently a chief political correspondent for The Morning Consult, starts Friday. Prior to The Morning Consult, Wilson was editor and lead author of The Washington Post’s morning political tipsheet “Read In.” Before his tenure at the Post, he served as editor-in-chief of National Journal’s “Hotline” tipsheet.
Comedy Central once named him “The Greatest Political Mind of Our Time.” On the TV pundit front, he appears regularly on CNN, MSNBC, NPR, C-SPAN, “Washington Week” and PBS’s “NewsHour.”
Wilson — a George Washington University graduate — was an online reporter for The Hill in 2008 and 2009...

Reid, today, re-tweeting Ezra “Journolist” Klein article:

Twitter: Reid Wilson, Correspondent @TheHill. Politics, viruses. Author, Epidemic: Ebola & the Global Scramble to Prevent the Next Killer Outbreak
This is @ezraklein saying the quiet part loud: “Getting back to normal” does NOT mean what people think it means. We won’t be fully back to normal until there’s a vaccine.

10 Apr: Vox: I’ve read the plans to reopen the economy. They’re scary.
There is no plan to return to normal.
By Ezra Klein
Over the past few days, I’ve been reading the major plans for what comes after social distancing. You can read them, too. There’s one from the right-leaning American Enterprise Institute, the left-leaning Center for American Progress, Harvard University’s Safra Center for Ethics, and Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Romer...

In different ways, all these plans say the same thing: Even if you can imagine the herculean political, social, and economic changes necessary to manage our way through this crisis effectively, there is no normal for the foreseeable future. Until there’s a vaccine, the US either needs economically ruinous levels of social distancing, a digital surveillance state of shocking size and scope, or a mass testing apparatus of even more shocking size and intrusiveness...

All of them feature a period of national lockdown — in which extreme social distancing is deployed to “flatten the curve” and health and testing capacity is surged to “raise the line.” That’s phase one. Phase two triggers after a set period (45 days for CAP, three months for Harvard) or, in the AEI plan, after 14 days of falling cases and a series of health supply markers...

The CAP and Harvard plans both foresee a digital pandemic surveillance state in which virtually every American downloads an app to their phone that geotracks their movements, so if they come into contact with anyone who later is found to have Covid-19, they can be alerted and a period of social quarantine can begin...
While similar efforts have borne fruit in Singapore and South Korea, the US is a very different country, with a more mistrustful, individualistic culture...

As of now, the White House has neither chosen nor begun executing on a plan of its own. That’s a terrible abdication of leadership, but reading through the various proposals, you can see why it’s happened. Imagine you’re the president of the United States in an election year. Which of these futures, with all its costs and risks and pain, would you want to try and sell to the American people?...

honestly, people won’t wait that long. Even in Minnesota we are starting to rumble.. it won’t be war, at least not yet, but the rebellion is growing.

t is not realistic to think that American society will get back to normal

Those essential workers are doing their normal jobs without anyone worried about them being there.

I wonder if the horrible #’s in Europe are due to the desired culling of high-cost people (elderly) from socialized medicine systems.

Call me a conspiracy nut...

There is naïveté about a lot of things, including the idea put forth by ‘experts’ that we have to wait for a vaccine to be developed and tested. There is absolutely no guarantee that an effective vaccine is going to be developed. The CDC estimates that the overall effectiveness of the 2019-2020 flu vaccines is about 45% - and we’ve been making those vaccines seasonally for a long time.

Experts fear 'national naivete' on COVID optimism

Experts should fear an end to the 'national naivete' in regards to experts.

There's abundant reason to display skepticism, even cynicism in regards to 'experts' and their models.

We know 100% that the experts and models have been wrong.

We can deduce that experts' mild mannered exterior covers a ruthless authoritarian core. They don't have a problem with locking down the economy and the country for 18 months, during which citizens will have to raise their hands and ask permission to go to the bathroom. This isn't a problem for them...they prefer this state.

They LIKE the current state...and there seems to be no hurry to find a treatment or a vaccine. Any progress has come as a result of wingtip suppositories applied liberally by PT.

We have 'experts' telling us that the most successful treatment shows only 'anecdotal' success and will require another 12-18 months of study to prove. Meantime we have government officials outlawing the use. We're told that vaccines are also...12-18 months off.

I'll repeat that for emphasis...they have no problem with the current state of affairs...they LIKE it. Woe be to us if their druthers become determinate.

For them, there's no possible scenario where the cure is worse than the disease.
