Cold fronts coming in to the Eastern US. Is this because of warm fronts in the middle of the country?

Solution: Wear face masks. IF they can stop a coronavirus epidemic they can stop tornadoes. /sarc

Oh, and you have to stand 6 feet apart from your family members and friends while watching the tornadoes or you might get arrested. /sarc/snark

[Corona-nado?]

Just as long as we don’t start seeing Sharknado.

Mark Cuban as President? THAT was the most ridiculous part of one of those movies.

Had a look at some forecast guidance and this does look serious for the southeast and Gulf coast states, after a slight risk develops late Saturday in OK and TX, then a much stronger outbreak appears likely in states like Alabama and Georgia, back west to eastern Texas, on Sunday.

Maybe it’s not such a bad thing they had to postpone the Masters golf tournament, this looks like it would have disrupted play all day on Sunday.

It’s still is not too late for Roger Corman to become a president, at least he knows how to work within a budget

Bump. How are people supposed to be distant from each other in a shelter after a tornado wrecks a small town?

Cold fronts coming in to the Eastern US. Is this because of warm fronts in the middle of the country?

Essentially, yes.

The temperature and humidity contrast is greatest in the spring as the weather is warming nicely down south, and the north (Canada) is just coming out of bottoming out of cold temps.

This sets the perfect scenario for severe weather outbreaks.

Fortunately, they are giving plenty of warning for the potential of this one. People can be on the alert and ready to take cover, and having everything on lock down, with people not being at work or school, may actually be a blessing as they can monitor it better and take shelter quicker.

Unless it hits a highly populated area, theoretically, the death rate from this should be lower than usual because people are less likely to be caught unawares.

Here in Alabama, it seems that we always endure a tornado outbreak on either Good Friday, Palm Sunday or Easter. It's probably because April is our worst month for tornadoes. I watched tonight's news on one station and they had Western Alabama (where I live) in the red area, which means the area most likely to be hit. They also had a small, narrow purple line, which depicted the area they are REALLY worried about. Naturally, my town is included in the danger zone. I turned the tv to another station: Same prediction. My town was in the "you're screwed" area. That really made me feel good. 😒 My hometown was decimated in the April 3, 1974 outbreak by an extremely strong F-5 monster. I was only three years old when it struck, but I remember bits and pieces, mainly the loud "train" sound and the screams of the townspeople after it was over. A few years ago, after that Hurricane (forget the name) hit Houston, a spinoff tornado tore through my area and went right through our backyard. My mother and I were in our hallway praying. We were terrified. Thankfully, it was a small tornado, but it caused damage. I hope and pray that this system fizzles out, or we are in for a very long day. And my mother, God love her, is not the type of person one wants to be with during a storm. To say that she becomes hysterical and irrational is an understatement. I'll give her a pass, due to the fact that she has very vivid memories of the hellacious tornado that almost destroyed our hometown in '74. I'll have my anxiety pills with me all day, lol.

I don’t know what happened to my post. I used paragraphs, but they apparently disappeared.

would that town be Guin that was hit in the 74 outbreak?.....the 1974 outbreak was astonishing because of how many f-5 tornadoes were produced...i believe it was 6...Xenia Ohio, Brandenburg Kentucky, Guin Alabama, Huntsville, Alabama, Sayler Park, Ohio, Monticello, Indiana...seems Texas, Oklahoma and Alabama seem to get extremely powerful tornadoes...almost super-charged.

I attempted to post again, but my computer still won’t let me post paragraphs. My apologies to everyone.

You are correct:) That’s my beloved hometown.

My father was the Chief of Police. He had the unfortunate job of going to the National Guard Armory and identifying the bodies. Sadly, some were his good friends.

He died in 1979 of a heart attack when I was eight. I believe he never recovered from that ordeal.

I don’t know how they do it, but this site gives pretty fine-detail weather data of all types on a global scale

This cutoff low that’s been dumping rain here in California for the last week is probably going to be a factor in the tornado outbreak in the Plains Sunday.
