Washington (AFP) - With an aircraft carrier forced into port and staff at bases handling nuclear missiles hit by COVID-19, the US military wants rivals to understand: don't test us, we have not been weakened.
Statement after statement from the Pentagon has sought to deliver that message amid questions this week over whether the US fighting force can maintain full readiness, with cases among service members now at 2,031.
"We're still capable and we're still ready no matter what the threat," Joint Chiefs Chairman General Mark Milley said Thursday.
"I wouldn't want any mixed messages going out there to any adversaries that they can take advantage of an opportunity, if you will, at a time of crisis," he added.
"That would be a terrible and tragic mistake if they thought that."

I’ve seen enough videos on Twitter and Facebook with people purposefully spreading the virus that I have no doubt in my mind what’s going on.
There were reports on this very site of Chinese individuals coughing all over public places a few months back. But here is something I’m really wondering about ... the CT scans and symptoms of the “vaping” lung disease patients are practically identical to covid-19 cases. I suspect this has been in the USA since April of last year... maybe a less communicable strain.

Give me break. America has the muscle to incinerate anyone but we just had “peace talks” with the Taliban. The virus itself,like Islam, will cut America by a 1000 cuts. The enemy knows it doesn’t take an overwhelming firepower and military capability to kill us. If America is floundering like a dead fish,the military will die with the fish.
The US Navy neutralized the Teddy Roosevelt pretty fast. It was forward deployed, but all it took was a bit of virus, and a highly political captain.
Gee its no worse than the flu, and only of concern to people over 60 or who have preconditions that make them vulnerable. /sarc
The Russian Strategic Rocket Force survived the fall of the USSR almost fully intact. I wouldn’t count on the fall of a heavily nuked up country to just lose control or ability to destroy the world.
A lot of big talk by a feminized navy whose officers seek popularity with their men and won’t follow the chain of command.
I have been telling my wife that it has probably been here at least 4 to 6 months, misdiagnosed as pneumonia, bad case of the flu, or any of a number of lethal respiratory diseases.
It only started to get traction after it got out of hand in China, would the Chinese government experiment on their own people with a bioweapon?
With a population of 1.4 billion why would they car if they lost a few million here or there.

The vaping thing is totally irrelevant here. The vapers were using bootleg juice in hopes to get high.
It has more value if you look at the CT scans you can find in research papers. Just google them. Once you compare the CT scans of vapers who died with covid-19 patients, you’ll see it. Also, compare the symptoms and disease progression of both groups. I don’t know of any research papers out there that have looked at the possible link. We’ll see...
