(CNN) US coronavirus death count likely an underestimate. Here’s why.

Health experts are warning the national count of Covid-19 deaths in the United States could be underestimated as the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread.

This could be especially true because the reporting data can lag by an average of one to two weeks, according to the latest guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's.

Also, deaths due to Covid-19 "may be misclassified as pneumonia deaths in the absence of positive test results, and pneumonia may appear on death certificates as a comorbid condition," the CDC noted, adding that "analyses to better understand and quantify reporting delays" for Covid-19 deaths and "related causes" are underway. In March, the CDC introduced a new code to accurately capture mortality due to Covid-19 on death certificates.

With that code, the CDC noted that Covid-19 "should be reported on the death certificate for all decedents where the disease caused or is assumed to have caused or contributed to death."

‘What we are seeing is a tip of an iceberg’

When it comes to an accurate count of Covid-19 deaths in the US, "we really are just seeing the tip of the iceberg and a lot of it has to do with the tests we have available," Dr. Panagis Galiatsatos, a pulmonary and critical care physician on the front lines at Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, said Monday morning...

‘There will be a lot of death’...

I’ll guarantee Fauci and Birx are going to run with this bull sh*t as justification to keep our economy shut down. At some point President Trump is going to have to call these two frauds out, and remind Americans the projected deaths being touted by Fauci and Birx from this bug, and the actual number of deaths, and how these bogus models got it all wrong!

Health experts...

Oh good, in what field?

... are warning the national count of Covid-19 deaths in the United States could be underestimated...

Note the weasel-word there, "could" -- gotta keep the fear up! The proletariat aren't buying our BS anymore! Up the ante!

This could be especially true because the reporting data can lag by an average of one to two weeks...

Gosh, ya think!? Wow...and the "health experts" making the projections probably never thought of this nugget either, eh? I would say it is insulting but some of the people making the projections are demonstrably idiots so... But still, you think people in the business of using data to make projections don't know the nature and characteristics of the data and their models? Who ever wrote and edited this should go back to covering the latest HS drama club production, that's about all they are qualified for.

Sure. People with underlying health issues are far more likely to die of COVID-19. We all know that. The question that should be asked is: What percentage of people have underlying health issues that make them vulnerable? Are these people at fault? Do they deserve to die? Maybe if they are smokers or fat as a pig, but...

My parents, for example, are in their seventies, aren’t fat at all, do not smoke, but have hypertension. They can surely be here 10 or 15 more years. If they got COVID-19, it would probably be serious and who knows whether or not they would survive.

Everyone who dies (of anything other than physical trauma) will go on CNN’s Corona list.

Which are precisely the class of persons that needs to be kept at distance from the infected, especially in their own house or hospital. Likewise those who are infectious. Give them sun and fresh air and walks when possible. In contrast, shutting down schools, outlawing voluntary community and commerce with shelter-in-place (until they get too sick from being cooped up with the infected) for all but a few (due to unemployment) will cost more in the long run then risking healthy people to be infected until it does out due to recoveries and weakening of the virus, as with the flu.
