The Trump administration is pushing to reopen much of the country next month, raising concerns among health experts and economists of a possible covid-19 resurgence if Americans return to their normal lives before the virus is truly stamped out.
Behind closed doors, President Trump — concerned with the sagging economy — has sought a strategy for resuming business activity by May 1, according to people familiar with the discussions.
In phone calls with outside advisers, Trump has even floated trying to reopen much of the country before the end of this month, when the current federal recommendations to avoid social gatherings and work from home expire, the people said. Trump regularly looks at unemployment and stock market numbers, complaining that they are hurting his presidency and reelection prospects, the people said.
Like others, they spoke on the condition of anonymity to reveal internal discussions.
Trump said at his daily briefing Thursday that the United States was at the “top of the hill” and added, “Hopefully, we’re going to be opening up — you could call it opening — very, very, very, very soon, I hope.”

Trump needs to bring psychiatrists to his daily briefings to discuss the mental health toll - suicides and depression - that the shutdown and mass unemployment is causing. He has to go on the offensive with lots of hard information and human tragedy stories. If Americans don’t soon return to their normal lives there will be a hell of a lot more to worry about that some damned virus.
Regardless of what this article says, there is no way to “stamp out” this virus.
It is good to see more people point that out. Far too often these leftists think that by hiding in terror inside your house for two, four, six weeks, or whatever it takes they can somehow magically erase the virus from the face of the earth. You can’t do that, if you try to do that you will fail.
Even if you were somehow able to keep everybody inside at Gunpoint for six months you wouldn’t stop the virus. It could still spread by the authorities that drop off your weekly rations at your door or the people who have to work to supply the authorities with your weekly rations or the people working for the utilities to keep the power of water flowing and running.
Well I am lucky that I still have a steady paycheck for now during this mess, I can’t help but think about how I had two interviews scheduled for better jobs and then this virus it in both companies have suspended hiring unless absolutely essential. It also hurts in a way to drive by the shutter businesses, empty parking lots etc. And to realize you have all of these people out of work struggling to get by and Americans who are not living anymore they are simply existing day today.
I can’t even begin to imagine what the people who have been furloughed or laid off I feel like when they hear some governor or mayor say we will end this by such and such a date then all the sudden extend it again for another two weeks or longer and repeat.
This Has to stop very soon with a plan to quickly and safely get the country back to normal.
Does anyone think that Matt, Josh, Jose and Bill are trying to reassure us by letting us know that all this will be over soon???
