Pfizer Inc. said it's making "important advances" in the drug company's battle against the coronavirus.
The New York-based pharmaceutical giant (NYSE: PFE) said its researchers and scientists "have been relentlessly working" to find a treatment for coronavirus, as well as working on a vaccine to prevent it.
"We are facing this public health challenge head on by collaborating with industry partners and academic institutions to develop potential novel approaches to prevent and treat COVID-19. Our researchers and scientists also have been exploring potential new uses of existing medicines in Pfizers portfolio to help infected patients globally," said Dr. Albert Bourla, chairman and CEO, in a statement.
The company said it's "confirmed a lead compound and analogues (which) are potent inhibitors of" SARS-CoV-2, which causes the current pandemic of coronavirus infections (COVID-19).
In addition, Pfizer said it's working with German biotech BioNTech SE to develop a vaccine for COVID-19, with clinical trials expected to begin later this month, and "there is potential to supply millions of vaccine doses by the end of 2020 subject to technical success of the development program and approval of regulatory authorities and then rapidly scale up to capacity to produce hundreds of millions of doses in 2021."
While this work can generally take years, we are working to find opportunities to save time wherever we can and work in parallel rather than in a linear capacity. ... A public threat like coronavirus COVID-19 pushes each of us to urgently bring forward our resources and expertise to overcome this most challenging moment in the medical history of this century," said Mikael Dolsten, Pfizer research and development head, in the statement.
The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that Pfizer said it will begin testing its rheumatoid-arthritis drug Xeljanz in coronavirus patients in Italy this week to see if that drug works as a therapy.
So many press releases, so little time.
Quick, find out which of our products is a zinc ionophore!
whoever gets the vaccine first gets billions.
meanwhile, the cheap anti-malaria drug cures (and prevents) it.

Here’s a novel approach “HCQ+ Azythromycin (sp?)+ Zinc-” Give it a try- you’ll be amazed at how well it works according to study result after study result after study result!
“whoever gets the vaccine first gets billions.”
It’ll certainly be a shot in the arm for them.
Billion$ << Trillion$

Since we’re also talking about prevention, What I’d really like to know is this -— Does HCQ help PREVENT infection from Coronavirus?
If the answer is “Yes”, it would eventually be a simple matter of prescribing it the same way we do for Malaria. With that, we can all go back to leading normal lives.
The cheap anti malaria drug does not cure it particularly in hospitalized patients and often has to be stopped due to cardiac side effects. There are multiple promising trials going on if drugs we can actually use in the ICU
[[Does HCQ help PREVENT infection from Coronavirus?]]
Healthcare workers on the front line have been taking it long enough now that we should have some very clear statistics by now- which should be made public- pronto- but it seems like the msm is keeping it from us-

But then gates won’t be able to become a billionaire (and infect everyone with a tracking chip IF the reports are true about that)-
this whole Pfizer vaccine and “promising treatment” is nothing but a BS publicity stunt given that:
“with clinical trials expected to begin later this month, and “there is potential to supply millions of vaccine doses by the end of 2020 subject to technical success of the development program and approval of regulatory authorities and then rapidly scale up to capacity to produce hundreds of millions of doses in 2021.”
i.e., no faster than any of the other of the many vaccines currently in development ...
the situation with their “promising treatment” is even more absurd:
” Pfizer has identified a lead drug to treat the new coronavirus, Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Mikael Dolsten said Thursday.
The possible antiviral, if successful, would be given early in the disease process, when patients are admitted to the hospital, Dolsten told CNBCs Meg Tirrell.
The company believes it could enter clinical trials in just a few months, Dolsten said.
Right. the “promising” drug won’t even be ready for clinical trials for a few months, and of course THOSE kinds of trials typically can take MANY months to complete, years even ... so even if the drug works, it probably wouldn’t be available until 2022 at the earliest ... by then, COVID-19 may very well have disappeared just like SARS and MERS did ...
any doctor posting on you tube has an agenda. I really dont care what they say the vast consensus in the hospitals and ICUs is that plaquenil is not that impressive. It also had to be stopped in the last 2 patients I started it on for cardiac side effects.
ABC news posted it, not the doctor.
What does it mean that they appear to be focusing on meds used to treat autoimmune disorders? Any medical types here, does that tell you anything important about this virus or no?
But... but... it hasnt gone through 24 months of clinical laboratory tests and documented by an army of bureaucrats headed by Dr. Anthony Fauci. And another several years of FDA red tape.
“any doctor posting on you tube has an agenda”
Honestly you sound like you have an agenda.
Lighten up a bit and tell us of your current experiences.
So wait- don’t prescribe that $1.50 HCQ+AZ+Zinc, safely used for 40 years, we have a new treatment coming Real Soon Now with boffo possibilities but unknown side affects for a mere $100 per dose. It will help the Economy AND preserve bureaucratic and scientific Tradition.
I won’t be going near any vaccine that appears on the near horizon. It is likely to be half-arsed and rushed to approval as a face saving measure.
