I actually had the above discussion with a now former Libertarian friend. This is conspiracy nonsense crap.
A bug got loose in China by accident (doubt intentionally) to which humanity has no immunity. It happens. Think bubonic plaque, measles, small pox, polio, typhus, malaria, yellow fever, influenza, etc. Then there is the common cold.
There are cities just as dense and just as much as an air nexus as JFK and they’re not dealing with what NYC is dealing with.

If Trump were to cancel the election in November (which he can’t do because the states, not the federal government, hold the election), the only duly elected and legitimate federal officials as of noon on January 6, 2021, the beginning of the 117th Congress, would be the 65 Senators whose terms do not expire after the end of the current Congress. Of those, 33 are Democrats, 2 others (Bernie Sanders and Angus King) are “independents” who caucus with the Democrats, and 30 are Republicans.
The governors of the states where the 35 seats weren’t filled could appoint successors. It turns out that by my count six such GOP senate seats are in states where a ‘Rat is currently the governor (Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Montana and North Carolina). Three such ‘Rat seats (Alabama, Massachusetts and New Hampshire) are in states where the GOP holds the governor’s office.
This would make the division 50 GOP, 48 Rats and 2 independents who caucus with the Rats. They would have an impasse as to who to elect to the position of President Pro Tem, which is currently held by Chuck Grassley of Iowa, who would be replaced by Patrick “Leaky” Leahy were the ‘Rats to control the Senate (this position by tradition goes to the longest serving senator from the majority party). Under Article I Section 3 Clause 5 of the Constitution, this person would become president in the absence of a president, vice-president and House speaker. If there is no President Pro Tem in place by noon on January 20, 2021, and of course there would be no Speaker of the House because you can only elect, and never appoint, representatives in Congress, does Mike Pompeo as the serving Secretary of State become President, or does his term expire along with Donald Trump’s.
Also tell your friend that if Trump refused to vacate his office and move out of the White House as of noon on January 20 if he is not duly re-elected, the Secret Service (assuming they are loyal to the country and not to a man) would move him out.
