Who Gets Access To Hydroxychloroquine For Coronavirus? (Good, balanced article)
Forbes ^ | Today | William Baldwin

Posted on 04/08/2020 7:47:54 PM PDT by cba123

Politicians: Take this drug if you’re sick. Can’t hurt.

Scientists: Stop! We need to do a double-blind, randomized trial first.

--

A debate rages over a malaria drug that might treat Covid patients. It hasn’t proved its value in scientific trials. But people who are sick don’t want to wait for the results of trials. They want access to the drug now.

Science confronts personal liberty.

For the scientist’s view of this debate, I interviewed an M.D. who used to be part of the FDA’s drug approval division. That view is presented in this Q&A as the responses to questions arising from the patient’s point of view.

I have not been a fan of Forbes, since it was sold to a group of Chinese investors quite a while ago.

But this article, deserves notice.

It is informative. It is detailed.

And it IS NOT BIASED.

Good job Mr. Baldwin. Good job Forbes.

This is a long, balanced article on the two sides being taken in public about Hydroxychloroquine.

Good article.

Pretty long.

Scientists: Stop! We need to do a double-blind, randomized trial first.

Well... bureaucrats at the FDA want this. I doubt anyone has polled scientists to see what the majority of them think. Clinical trials will take many months, and in that time many people will suffer and die. The drug is not new to medicine and has been used for many years to treat malaria. Doctors know how the human body reacts to it. No one questions that clinical trials should take place, but this pandemic is not something that can wait for the FDA's usual glacial pace.

If a woman has the right to chose with her body, then so should patients.
Every issue in this country is a two sided coin. You chose for you, I’ll chose for me.

The FDA is a complete joke.

It has killed far more people than it saved.

The incestuous relationship between drug companies and fda folks is well known and no one has ever reformed it. People flow back and forth from govt to private drug company to fda again, obvious conflicts of interest.

The assertion that any FDA bureaucrat (no matter what his education is) somehow represents doctors as a whole invalidates this garbage.

No, “two sides” are not being presented equally. As a matter of fact, doctors do not have a unified position and there are more than two sides.

Fake news.

If anyone has symptoms and can’t get HCQ... Quercetin is an OTC product that may have some of the same ionophore properties (which is to allow zinc to enter the cells and stop the virus from replicating.)

Here is the video that gives the best info: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vE4_LsftNKM

I am anecdotal evidence— developed light fever and cough Saturday. Started Sunday night.. Feel great on Wednesday. (No fever, little cough, little lung pressure.) But I never felt horrible. So it hasn’t been a dramatic Lazarus from the dead change. But if you’re unable to get HCQ or want to try something available on Amazon.. it may be worth exploring. I am not a doctor.

""tamps down" on the immune system."
"Tamping down" means to tightly suppress.

Hydroxychloroquine is actually classified as a mild immunosuppressive drug.
Article needs to give the impression this will severely weaken your immunity.

Quercetin is also a zinc ionosphere which raises the immunity

The article also doesn’t go over any known tests that has already taken place. one with 97% successful (one 89 year old lady died) Another with 100% success

Good article but . . .

You scientists insist on randomized tests. Why?

A disease may diminish spontaneously. If a drug has been given, you can’t tell if a good result is from the drug or from nature taking its course.

Sort it out later. Not a good reason. BTW, SARS petered out and vanished on its own.

I don’t care how long and balanced the article is.

If, Lord forbid, I come down with the China virus, I will ask for HCQ right off the bat.

If you get it, demand treatment with hydroxychloquine and zinc and you will sign a liability waver. If they refuse, threaten to sue the hospital for malpractice and lack of proper care.

Balanced ny a**. Bullshit article. Antiarrythmia drugs can cause prolonged QT. You watch the EKG to make sure it doesn’t. It takes a prolonged period of usage to cause retinopathy.

“This is not a benign drug. It can cause heart rhythm abnormalities, with fatal results. In high doses it can damage your retina.”
