Dr. Marc Siegel, a Fox News medical contributor, told Tucker Carlson Tonight on Tuesday that his 96-year-old father was recently weak and struggling to breathe but recovered after he was administered an anti-malaria drug and antibiotics.
Siegel was discussing hopeful signs that hydroxychloroquine has shown in recent studies when combined with antibiotics for coronavirus treatment.
Siegel said his father, who lives in Florida, recently complained about weakness, shortness of breath and feared that he was going to die.

If this stuff is so effective, why are the death rates still going up?
Perhaps because it’s infrequently used, and when it is, it’s often done too late to be effective.
To all the people who say that Trump “peddles,” “hawks,” or “pushes” this drug, I hope it isn’t available when they need it.
“If this stuff is so effective, why are the death rates still going up?”
I hope you are being sarcastic, or are genuinely ignorant.
Not complaining about docs...that's just the way it is.
Agreed. Fauci is easily understood in that he holds a very narrow, myopic view that is driven by his profession. That and he’s spent 52 years in the Fed bureaucracy where everyone lives their life in CYA mode.
“Anecdotal”
1) These medications are not widely & easily available.
2) The obstinate medical establishment wants their double-blind, peer reviewed and published clinical trials resulting in FDA approval. No - "off label" usage.
3) The "never-let-a-crisis-go-to-waste" political & medical bureaucracy is counting many deaths as "COVID-19 Caused" rather than classifying them as "COVID-19 Contributing Factor" for patients with previous major health problems.
New York, for example, has about 12,000 deaths annually due to "flu/pneumonia" and "chronic lower respiratory problems" problems.

1) Not everyone is getting it
2) Many of those getting it are already very sick
More Fake News from the ever expanding Swamp division at Fox News. The title, Faux News, has becoming ever more accurate. Hydroxychloroquine is a drug already PROVEN to safely and successfully treat the COVID-19 virus. What it lacks is simply bureaucratic and Swamp media approval. The former takes months, at least, and the latter will never happen.
His doc has him on a low fat diet, though it doesn't work now nor has it ever worked.
Now my friend is a big part of the problem. He eats like a wild animal and refuses to go to the local wellness center (though the wellness center could do very little given his diet (both volume and type).
I have suggested on many occasions to my friend that he might want to "consider" keto (under his doctor's care of course). Some who have gone the keto route have lost a lot of weight and have gotten off blood thinners.
Nope.
My friends doctor isn't interested...and neither is he.
He would rather just keep having heart attacks and getting stents, etc. and keep having bleed outs.
Bottom line (from his doctors POV): A low fat diet, because of its wide acceptance, can easily be defended in court. Therefore, that's the solution whether it works or not.
That’s truly sad, as I know he is your friend.
But you really can’t save anybody from themselves.
Anyone who has ever been close to an addict can tell you that.
“If this stuff is so effective, why are the death rates still going up?”
Because OrangeManBad. If you really want to save lives, call it the “Cuomo Cure”.
It’s kind of a rhetorical question. Notice nobody is actually talking about the results. e.g. number of people who took it with medium symptoms who died, etc.
It’s used only sporadically, and remember... the deaths are of those with Coronavirus, not necessarily because of it.
Its used only sporadically...
But the sainted and revered Dr. Fauci doesn’t yet approve. /s
