Thanks but no thanks, China.
Reading up a bit, allergies cause watery eyes, itching, and sneezing. That may cause people to touch their face more often. That could be one of the reasons for CDC supporting face mask use in public..
Re: your graphic
Interesting, thanks. But what is the official “Day 0”?
The info was updated March 30, but the graph ends at about Day 38 ... does that mean Day 0 was about mid-February?
People who aren’t wearing them might touch their mouths or noses. Wonder if WHO knows those are a couple of places the virus can get to people through.
Of course, masks make sense, especially when there is significant asymptomatic spread.
You’ll might be safer that way. The mask wearers can rub their infected masks in their eyes and mouths and infect themselves.
This entire thing is a massive cluster fu*k!
Trump should relieve Fauci of his position on this task force! He is as inept and corrupt as WHO!
Graham said he aims to withhold $$$$ from the WHO, and the US is the biggest bank.
and china will see their finances wither, if plans work out.
They did the unthinkable to just about every country.
LOL...I’ve been trying to convince my wife that I should get a full-face Deadpool mask.
They’re effing clueless.
And all the world can see.
A face mask also helps you stay mindful of the threat. So you’re less likely to touch your face and more likely to wash your hands frequently.
Also they may be starting from different assumptions: WHO assuming that people won't know how to use the masks or that wearing masks will make them overconfident, and CDC assuming that people will use the masks properly and maintain social distancing.
One of the downsides of populism is that everything becomes an occasion for rage and blame, rather than attempts to figure out what is actually going on and what to do about it.
Helicondelta,
I have the same question as canuck_conservative.
When was day 0 on that graph; it starts when there were 100 cases.

Who Who
Bingo! Your mask keeps you from sneezing and coughing on people. And spreading droplets by talking. It doesn’t protect you.
Sneezing’s not a symptom; sneezing is a good way to spread corona through droplets.
but the mold count will increase and cause sneezing.
Taiwan has about 23 million people. On Monday, Taiwan had 15 new cases of Coronavirus, on Tuesday 3 cases (all 3 related to foreign travel, by the way).
Taiwan REQUIRES face masks any time a person is in public, both to protect that person and those around that person. They also check temperatures virtually anywhere you go, so if you are sick with a temperature, you won’t get very far before you’re caught.
So people can ignore Taiwan and wash/sanitize their hands 50 times a day, but breathe in enough of the virus, and you’re simply out of luck anyway. Taiwan understands that.
Its whoRES.
If I still had access to one Id be wearing an SCBA & HAZMAT Suit.
