Is it me or does anyone else think that a better wording might be ‘declined’ rather than ‘rejected’ in this write-up? Declined would be appropriate for a “Thanks for the offer but we have got it in hand” as a response to an unsolicited offer. Rejected is a harsher sounding response like “Go away kid, you bother me!”

Then again the writer is probably a grad of a journalism school and has made English a second language!

Boris Johnson’s spokesman rejects Trump’s offer to help with his treatment.

“We're confident the prime minister is receiving the best possible care from the National Health Service. Any treatment he receives is a matter for his doctors.” https://t.co/iyJMvngsp9— Adam Bienkov (@AdamBienkov) April 7, 2020

with a bunch of nasty comments under it

The risk to the NHS is that if he dies, the NHS will be accused of not giving him every possible best treatment.

And that alone, even if untrue, will give rise to conspiracy theories.

They should have accepted the offer and put as many doctors as possible in the mix, to have complete and open transparency.

No I think he chose the word carefully and intentionally as a put down for Trump.

You’re right that “declined” would be a more accurate description of what happened.
