President Donald Trump on April 6 announced the White House has “reached an agreement” with manufacturing giant 3M to bring more than 55.5 million N95 respirators to the United States a month to support healthcare workers.
“We have reached an agreement, a very amicable agreement, with 3M for the delivery of an additional 55.5 million high-quality face masks each month, so that we’re going to be getting over the next couple of months 166.5 million masks for our frontline healthcare workers,” Trump said at a CCP virus briefing on Monday.
The president said that the “3M saga ends very happily,” and that his administration is “very proud to be dealing with 3M,” adding that he had spoken with CEO Mike Roman and thanked him for “getting it done.”

3M figured that by being stupid they could damage their brand for years, so they got on board right quick. Clearly they begged Trump to say everything was now cool knowing people were pissed at them and they would have been the butt of jokes for years.

Last I heard Taiwan made 2.2 zillion yesterday.
I did a search for Taiwan making masks and found articles about a Taiwanese doctor telling how to make your own masks.

The problem is that the machines to make the tiny diameter fibers for the media are not easy to make OR operate properly.
If we expect to get back to some semblance of “normal”, we need a billion N95 masks in a month. If re-use becomes common, halve that, except maybe not, as summer becomes rather problematic (have to swap out sweated-on masks a lot) unless summer itself really whacks the virus.

Holy carp. We’ve been stuck in the basement for far too long. I live with four dogs. I’m beginning to sleep on the floor and eat out of a bowl.
With the help of a couple bags of Costco chicken jerky dog treats, I’m teaching my rottie to speak russian and levitate.
