more reasons why Trump should ignore IHME:

26 May 2027: IHME: New book highlights influence of global health financing on burden of disease
by Lara Westbrook, student assistant GET
In their new book, Governing Global Health: Who Runs the World and Why, Chelsea Clinton and Devi Sridhar use findings on global health spending from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) to better understand the different actors in the global health space and look at how well they are helping address the world’s health problems...

Having previously served on IHME’s Financing Global Health Advisory Panel, Sridhar used IHME’s new report Financing Global Health 2016: Development Assistance, Public and Private Health Spending for the Pursuit of Universal Health Coverage to highlight the importance of tracking global health spending sources and channels to understand trends in global health...

Clinton cited IHME’s work in noting that health areas such as HIV/AIDS and malaria have significantly more dollars invested in them relative to their global burden of disease than do NCDs...

25 Feb: CNN: Under Trump, America is less prepared for a coronavirus outbreak
Opinion by Chelsea Clinton and Devi Sridhar
Chelsea Clinton is the Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation and teaches at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia...Devi Sridhar is a professor at the University of Edinburgh’s Medical School and holds the Chair in Global Public Health. Previously, she was associate professor in global health politics at Oxford University.

Unfortunately, President Donald Trump has taken actions that many doctors and experts agree will leave the US less prepared to respond to COVID-19. He has eliminated the position of Global Health Czar and has repeatedly proposed cuts important to global health funding — thankfully that have failed to pass in Congress.

He’s shown his antipathy toward addressing health emergencies like this one, most recently in his proposed 2021 budget for the Department of Health and Human Services, which would cut $3 billion from response and preparedness funds. We write this with long experience in global health and having looked closely at outbreak prevention and response in our book, “Governing Global Health: Who Runs the World and Why?”

Two aspects in particular worry us about the White House’s response, or lack thereof. We have a President uninterested in global health concerns, broadly disdainful of experts and recently obsessed with and distracted by his impeachment.
Trump has often shown deep ignorance and cruelty on issues of global health...
Columbia University has even tracked more than 400 cases of the Trump administration’s efforts to restrict or dismiss scientific research, education or discussion, or the publication or use of scientific information since 2016...

As the American people face what the World Health Organization has deemed a public health emergency, we need a strong leader who understands the importance of good governance, expertise and diverse perspectives in bringing outbreaks under control.
The next election provides an opportunity to safeguard the health of people both in the US and around the world. We hope the Democratic candidates will outline what they would do to respond to the current coronavirus crisis and how they would prevent future epidemics through investments in research, expertise and infrastructure.

When the NFL began the whole kneeling thing, being a lifelong NFL fan, I was curious about how the NFL compared to other entities with respect to how much it gives to programs and entities which don’t support conservative values (in my opinion) Just for perspective.

This was back in 2016 I think...so the data is at least a year or two from before that.

So I looked at the top twenty donors to The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation)

*Microsoft
*Apple
*Exxon Mobile (Exxon Mobile gave over $269 million in 2014)
*GE
*Soros Fund Management
*GAP
*State Street
*Car Max
*Johnson & Johnson
*Boeing
*Chevron
*Disney
*Google
*The Home Depot
*JP Morgan
*Merck
*Starbucks
*State Farm
*Verizon

************************************************
And I realized that patronizing ANY of the vendors above, meant I was providing direct financial support to the following organizations:

*World Health Organization
*The Global Fund to Fight AIDS
*United States Fund for UNICEF
*International Bank for Reconstruction and Development
*UNICEF Headquarters
*Clinton Health Access Initiative Inc
*International Development Association
*CARE
*World Health Organization Nigeria Country Office
*Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa
*United Nations Foundation
*Population Services International

What came out of this (for me) was how deeply intertwined the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation was with the Left. I really hadn’t been paying attention to their foundation at all, and it was a bit of a shock.

Funny thing is, whenI was a kid, many of the entities about had a positive connotation: UNICEF, CARE, and yes, even the United Nations Foundations. Of course, that was long, long before I knew how corrupt and anti-American they were, but still.

And the companies that dontated, too. I would think there are many companies that give to these foundations the same way that many gave to the Rainbow Coalition, it was a political shakedown for “protection”. It was their insurance against being called “racist”. Granted, it wasn’t a protection racket in the traditional sense in that nobody was going to get their kneecaps blown out, but...it is clear that the companies heard a voice saying “Nice company you got there. Wouldn’t want it to be accused of racism.”

I saw this list, and thought maybe there was some of that, but...the volumes of money seemed too high to be an insurance policy to demonstrate they were down with any number of Leftist causes.
