Boris Johnson's government reportedly believes the coronavirus may have accidentally leaked from a Chinese laboratory

coronavirus may have accidentally leaked from a laboratory in Wuhan where Chinese scientists were researching the virus, according to a Mail on Sunday newspaper report.

Most experts believe the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus began in markets in the Chinese city of Wuhan when animals passed on the disease to humans.

However, The Mail on Sunday report says that while officials in Boris Johnson's government believe this is still the most likely explanation, it is "no longer being discounted" that a leak from a nearby laboratory actually caused the outbreak.

A member of the UK government's emergency committee of senior officials, COBRA, told the newspaper: "There is a credible alternative view [to the zoonotic theory] based on the nature of the virus. Perhaps it is no coincidence that there is that laboratory in Wuhan. It is not discounted."

Accidentally? The planet, as a whole, is really going to give China a pass on this?!

It may have been an accidental release, but all of china's actions since then have been an act of war.

Nuke china.

Yes, it really does not matter how it originated. We will probably never know the truth.

But what does matter is that China lied, suppressed and bribed the WHO to prevent the world from finding out.

As a result, the virus spread from China to the rest of the globe.

China needs to pay a price.....restrict all travel from China globally. If they cannot contain a known contagion, they have no right to free travel.

I believe it leaked too

I have worked in China, and I could see some Chinese laboratory cowboys, playing with things that others in the world would not, trying to be the first to get a patent, make something saleable, or get academic glory of some publication. Chinese academia, labs, etc… are like government in that hierarchy and connections are very important, and no one questions what the boss is doing.

Then on the other end, I can imagine some low-paid lab workers not destroying test-animals as they are supposed to, but rather quietly selling them for extra cash.

FYI - something like this is what many Chinese themselves believe happened as well.

This paper published in February 2002 about the COVID19 epidemic in Wuhan says there were actually two labs in Wuhan doing research on bat viruses. The local CDC, not the Level 4 lab, was actually closer to the seafood market.

This is also an interesting article on China’s collection of bat viruses to establish a data base in case of future epidemics:

The report about the guy from the lab that was selling dead test animals at the “Wet Market” makes way to much sense to me.

He was arrested so the ChiComs knew what was going on.

That place is hideous, like something out of the dark ages

Anyone with sense knows this came from the lab in Wuhan.
Intentional or accidental isn’t all that relevant.
China has to pay for this.

[China needs to pay a price.....restrict all travel from China globally. If they cannot contain a known contagion, they have no right to free travel.]

While that’s a worthy target, it’s not really practical. As a continental-scale country, Chinese borders are porous. Also, plenty of countries trade with China. Whereas 100% tariffs on all Chinese imports until they allow free access 24/7/365 to CDC staff would be a good first step.

The problem we had was we had no idea what was really happening until it was too late. Were the Chinese deaths from the pandemic the result of Chinese incompetence and crappy Chinese health care or the virulence of the bug? Without direct and early access to all health care facilities and staff, we had no idea. Certainly not enough information to know whether it was worth shutting down a good chunk of the economy for weeks or months.

I don’t think so.

I suspect the world’s government already know when and how the virus got loose. They also know that China has been spending millions of dollars around the world in the way of “bribes” to influential people in the media and politics.

China is like a very rich person in a small town who has bought off the police, politicians and media. They can commit almost any crime and get away with it.

A public relation case is being built against China.

My guess is that they very well “created” this virus and that they planned on letting it loose into the western world as payback for the trade wars.

They believe they had the world by the throat because they managed to get most of the world’s medical supply production as well as many other vital products.

My guess is they were going to use the people that returned to China for the celebration they were having to carry the virus back to the western world. Their citizens were disposable.

The problem for them the virus got loose within their own borders. Their plan partially worked and the virus was quickly transported around the world, but like it or not, all roads lead back to WUSAN!

The virus is a weapon of mass destruction. The only question is will they pay the price.

The answer to that question is will world public opinion support action against China. At this point in time I am not sure. The world press seems to be the propaganda arm for the Chinese Government and they are doing a good job of deflecting any blame from China. Doubt this, see how effective they were in delaying ban on travel from China, or how they fought the name WUSAN VIRUS.

So the goal is to begin a case in public that China was working on bio weapons. Once that is establish they need to show the possible purpose of such a weapon. And last show that China meant to release the virus on the western world.

This is what I thought on the very first day I read about this Virus and the lab in China. It makes no sense that this virus could have evolved this quickly on its own. So I first thought it was accidentally released because I could not imagine that the Chinese government would intentionally release it on their own people. But now I believe that they could. And they actually had a whole lot to gain from doing so. So did the deep state.
