SecNav doing the job the President has given him to do. Trump has enough on his plate to deal with. This is pretty clear cut insubordination and leaking sensitive information about the combat readiness of one of the nation’s most powerful assets.

It shouldn't rise to the level of the SECNAV before action is taken. There are several levels of admirals/commands between Capt Crozier and the SECNAV. Apparently they were all cool with the letter being out there. The relief had to be directed by the SECNAV...the admirals were silent.

Until the SECNAV stepped in, no one from the admiral in command of the battle group to the CNO has even made a peep about it. They were wanting it to be a political hit against the administration.
