Outgoing inspector general says Trump fired him for carrying out his 'legal obligations'

Michael Atkinson, the outgoing intelligence community inspector general fired by President Trump on Friday, says he believes the president dismissed him because of his commitment to his duty as an impartial watchdog.

"It is hard not to think that the President's loss of confidence in me derives from my having faithfully discharged my legal obligations as an independent and impartial Inspector General, and from my commitment to continue to do so," Atkinson said in a statement released Sunday night that was obtained by several news outlets and shared on social media.

Trump fired Atkinson in a memo on Friday, explaining that he “no longer” has confidence in Atkinson's ability to serve as a watchdog for the intelligence community. Atkinson had previously been the one to alert Congress of an “urgent” whistleblower complaint he received from an intelligence official concerned about Trump's conversation's with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The president on Saturday defended his decision to fire Atkinson, calling him a "disgrace" to inspectors general.

What does that mean?

The old forms accommodated the “whistleblower’s” complaint???

By the way, I care.

I guess it makes him feel better about being a liar and a traitor to say he didn’t do anything or something like that.

What a schmuck.

Wow. A sanctimonious douche in the upper echelons of the intelligence community. Unprecedented (except for all the rest of them)

Sure, people who are fired never bull sh*t or change the version of events to make them appear as the good guy. And everyone in jail will tell ya their innocent. Just ask them.

You know when people used to get fired by a president they didn’t publicly cry like a little b1tch about it to the lapdog press.

He can blow it out his ass. Trump had every reason to fire him and he did. The End.

Except that you were involved in one-shot changing the standards, and then misapplying the law in multiple ways.

You report the words of a liar with nothing to back those words up knowing that it is at least second hand and wonders why he got fired.

Well, by his second term Trump will have people around him who he can trust. Too bad he can’t get at those who are pulling the strings, YET.

The lying POS.

1) He does NOT have the authority to launch investigations into the President’s policy or activities.

2) His authority is 100% limited to the intelligence community ONLY.

3) He was not allowed to take second hand complaints. (so he decided to change THAT)

4) When he has evidence of a crime, he can turn it over to the DOJ. When he did so, the Attorney General correctly said he had exceeded his authority and no further action was forthcoming.

5) Angered by THIS, he went to Congressional democrats.

He is a lying POS, who was involved in a coup attempt. He coordinated with the Democrat party.
