More than 85% of Americans are under stay-at-home orders, and at least one-third of the world is under some type of lockdown.
The restrictions promote social distancing to "flatten the curve," or keeping the number of coronavirus infections at a level that won't overwhelm healthcare systems. But keeping so many people at home is also tanking the global economy and depriving students of education. About 10 million Americans have filed for unemployment insurance in the past two weeks, and the US restaurant industry had hemorrhaged about $25 billion as of March 22. Major universities have switched to remote classes, and public schools are closed indefinitely in states including California, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
Plus, of course, staying at home is making many of us lonely and stir-crazy. So the question on many people's minds is: When will the lockdowns end?
Experts can't say for sure. The US's social-distancing guidelines have been extended through at least April 30. According to Davidson Hamer, a professor of global health and medicine at Boston University, some relief could come in mid-May. Epidemiologists at Harvard University think intermittent lockdowns may need to extend into 2022, with social-distancing measures in place 25% to 70% of the time.
However, a new antibody test rolling out in the US within weeks offers a glimmer of hope. These tests will be able to tell whether a person has already had COVID-19, regardless of whether they showed symptoms. A positive result would mean they're probably immune.
Widespread antibody testing could divide America into two groups: the vulnerable, and the recovered. The latter could slowly go back to work, breathing life into the US economy and helping us get back on track before a vaccine becomes available.

Okay, I want all those preening test-positive celebrities out there on the front lines, driving the sick to the hospital, delivering meals to them at home, etc., etc.!
It’s exactly the same as a flu swab. It’s no big deal.
This should be a drop-of-blood test. I would not submit to the long (5.5”) swab test.
Antibody testing is going to be very helpful moving forward.
I imagine the roll out is going to be just as chaotic as the PCR testing was when it started.
Who decides on the priority of test?

So all the fearful should quarantine and isolate themselves and let everyone else get on with living...and dying.
it’s 5 second of sheer hell lol- I’ve had horrible experiences with nasal tubes for various reasons- I’m afraid I’d be a big whimp about it- A person could cut a finder of mine off and I’d hardly flinch- Even smacked myself in face with chainsaw- didn’t bother me much- Broke many bones- no problems- never got casts for them either- but when it comes to nasal tubes- eeeeeyuck! I’m a whimp=-
So what is stopping you?
Go to work. Go out and about. Go visit your friends and family. You are probably under a stay at home advisory, but that is not enforced in 99% of the country.

You could come up with a 2 minute test and it would not be quickly implemented.
You realize they need special equipment, and you need licensed people to do the testing.
They are not making any more licensed people to testing.
So, if you want to go out and about, go ahead. Are the police at the end of your street? Home Depot is open where I am. What is it you need to do your projects...we can probably find a place to get them online.

All of the stores I would usually go to are open. The ONLY thing I was doing two months ago, that I am not doing tonight is going to the movies or going out to eat. And we are getting food from our favorite places a couple times a week as a treat. Same food. Our dishes.
This is what life is like for almost everyone in the world. You can make of it what you want.
I feel for you, and I know people are out of work. But, I don't personally know anybody who is out of work right now. I would imagine that where you live has a lot to do with it.

My wife is working from home. I continue to work out of my house. (As I have been for a while.)
Who is stopping you from going out? Are there police on your street? Even if there are, unless you are leading a parade of people—they are not going to stop you.
What exactly are you missing out on?
