Frankly, this is too easy of a narrative to craft. The big picture is that this Black Swan event and the fallout it has precipitated has created a custom-made opportunity to blame everything on Trump. I think we will need a bigger miracle for Trump to win the re-election than we did for him to win the election in 2016.
Trump was pretty careful not to actually say it was the flu or minimize it too much, but people like Limbaugh look like idiots, and the left is already making political ads out of it. de Blasio and other lefty New York officials have been just as bad, but it won't matter during the presidential election.
Unlike 9/11, and other previous crises for the country, there hasn't been a single second of unity, it is all about seizing the opportunity to gain more political power. I wish conservatives understood that early, and were a little more "conservative" in their rhetoric about the risks of this disease.
