'I'm Mad as Hell, and I'm Not Going to Take This Anymore'

"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore."

Remember that line from the famous American movie "Network"? It's time for a rebellion. Every out-of-work American and every out-of-business American business owner needs to open their windows and shout it, shout it so loud it reaches President Donald Trump, Congress and every swamp politician from Washington D.C., to New York to Boston to Beverly Hills, California.

It's time for this madness to stop. Mr. President, do you understand how many suicides of prominent business owners are going to start piling up?

Here in Las Vegas, a business owner closed his business, laid off his 45 employees (with tears in his eyes) and then went home and committed suicide. Did you see that in the news?

It's happening across America.

Do you understand the pain of the employees? People can't even get through to file for unemployment benefits. The websites have been down for days on end. No one answers the phones.

Do you understand how many lives are being ruined, how many jobs are being killed, how many great businesses will never reopen? The people are getting desperate and despondent. They have no money for food, rent, gas or survival.

We can't stay closed. We have to open up the U.S. economy. There is no more time for debate. There is no more room for caution. I have ideas and compromise below.

First, these coronavirus "death counts" have to stop. You're scaring people half to death. I suggest new kinds of death counts be put up on the screens to compete:

-- JOBS KILLED by this complete business shutdown.

-- BUSINESSES CLOSED.

-- AMERICAN DREAMS DESTROYED.

-- SUICIDES.

Another Great Depression will destroy this great nation. And we're on the way, unless you open this economy again.

And why not open America for business again -- with tight restrictions? What is happening now makes absolutely no sense. We are allowed to shop at big-box stores like Costco, Walmart and Home Depot; health food stores like Whole Foods and Sprouts; grocery stores; pet stores; auto part stores; pawn shops; marijuana stores; liquor stores; and gun stores. And get this: Golf courses are open.

If all of that is allowed, why can't we open all stores and businesses but with the same health precautions and restrictions?

I love and appreciate the UPS drivers and Costco cashiers on the front lines. But if they can work, why can't the rest of us? Do Costco checkout guys and gals and supermarket cashiers have a big S on their chest? If they can face it and survive, why can't the rest of us?

The liberal Democratic mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, just recommended everyone wear masks and scarves. Isn't this the compromise to get us all back to work?

Here's the mantra for the day: Wear a mask. Get back to work!

We need to open the U.S. economy before it's too late, before we're all doomed -- not from coronavirus but from the fallout of a Great Depression. Here is the compromise. Here are the new rules.

Anyone who wants to stay home can. If you want to collect welfare, food stamps and unemployment, you can. Anyone at high risk -- seniors, the sick, the obese, those with illness -- should shelter at home.

But the rest of us (the working people of America) are willing to take the risk; to keep our businesses alive; to save jobs; to save the economy; to prevent a Great Depression; to prevent mass suicides, alcoholism, drug addiction, poverty and misery.

We can all work -- just like the Costco employees and supermarket cashiers and UPS drivers. We can all wear masks. Our customers can wear masks. We can all practice social distancing. Employees can stand six feet apart. Stores can limit customers. New customers can be allowed to only go in when others leave. We can sanitize our workplaces and stores like never before.

It's time to start organizing a mega call campaign to President Trump, Congress and local politicians across this country. It's time to tell them that the American people want to take precautions, that we'll accept restrictions but we need to get back to work. Or we're holding you accountable for ruining our jobs, careers, businesses, dreams, lives.

The pandemic is horrible. But we can't keep the economy closed. Your caution and fear are killing our lives more than any pandemic. The politicians are destroying America.

Shout it: "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"

This board is not representative of the country. It is a small microcosm of mostly rural retirees who has the ability and means to "block out" the true state of the country.

Anyone who lives in any of our major metropolis areas (and that is pretty much anyone who relies on income to live) know what was going on out there wasn't sustainable. It wasn't and it isn't. It's a crowded, multicultural (mostly not desirable cultures) flea market filled with people racing around to get to work and then to buy cheap Chinese crap and chemical laden toxic crap posing as food they don't need to go further and further in debt to buy. Most of it to induce temporary endorphin rushes.

The absolute worst thing that can happen is we go through this pain and loss -only to learn absolutely nothing from it and go right back to the international bazaar race to the third world and barrio living.

Like you, I'm convinced CV has been here since last fall.

I've told this story before: we were in NYC for a week right before T-Day. My wife was starting to get a bit sick, but that didn't stop her/us from doing our typical social routine, which is Broadway shows, restaurants, bars, walking, etc. I was ok until we returned to LA - at that point, it was just a bad flu, no biggie, well (enough) in 7-10 days.

Was healthy through mid-Feb, then started developing a daily morning routine of hacking up phlegm. No fever, no aches, no tiredness - still my normal physically active self. But still, a lot of congestion that needed to be cleared each day for around 4 weeks.

Another factor: While I'm retired, my wife still enjoys practicing law, and travels (until recently) quite a bit - like around the country every other week. NYC, Chicago, Miami, Dallas, you name it. Bonus fact - unlike me, she never relapsed - purely asymptomatic.

So, I've got to ask the big question, which is how come she/I don't (presumably) have/had CV, while some shut-in, socially restricted at risk are filling the hospital beds? In other words, how/why did they get CV first before us?

The most logical answer of course is that they didn't; they're no canaries but rather the caboose. I think we did have CV, that we were sick, and that the current run on HCS demands are the lagging edge of the infection wave, not the lead.

I agree with you.

That’s OK. What will happen is all those flubros will go back to work and infect their bosses and company owners, putting them in the hospital or on a slab. This, of course, will cause the company to shut it’s doors and all those wise flubros will still be out of a job. That’s when wise old farts like me will show up and buy everything for pennies on the dollar.

The caveat should be if you choose to not quarantine at home then if you get sick you cannot uses any healthcare resources such as an ICU room or ventilator because the whole purpose of isolation is to keep the number of infection low enough so that those who are truly innocent can have access to life saving care. If greedy self centered people want to risk their lives fine but they get zero access thus they cannot take resources away from someone who did not be a selfish a$$hole. This would be easy to implement track the cellphones and toll tags if the person was not at home for extended periods of time the obviously they broke quarantine. Harsh but effective.

Despite the totalitarian nature of your proposal, I'd be perfectly willing to go along with it, but no, the State won't me, or any others who would like to just get back to living our lives in peace. This is because the State has decided we are nothing but serfs, a proposal it is obvious you agree with. We have no agency, according to the all powerful State. We have no rights. Do as you're told, or we will destroy you, utterly is the refrain. This despite the fact that the current actions of the State are destroying many, just as thoroughly as anything else might.

Now stay home don’t make the national guard force you too, I have zero desire to be recalled and have to police up the idiots but will with ruthless efficiency as will my troopers who will follow my orders to do so. We did in Kosovo, and a host of other places they will follow orders here given by a lawfully elected officials none of which is unconstitutional in a time of national emergency. The Supremes won’t even get involved this was decided over a hundred years ago the precedence is already set.

I thank you for your forthright admission that you are willing to kill your fellow citizens to enforce the edicts of the state. We know there are many, many like you, who lust for power over others, and will do anything in your power to enforce the whim of the dictates of the State.

The following describes you better than anything I can say.

I can tell you I know personally of 20 businesses here in my area who are dead in the water and we would laugh out loud at your comment of millions in the bank. Many of us get by month to month...

I wish you were right... I really do

"I would take great pleasure in locking you up with the entire weight of the federal government behind me and my troopers some times people need to be taught obedience the hard way."

Just frigging WOW! I get your point about law enforcement in this time of crisis, but "taught obedience the hard way"?

Can I assume if the Fedgov were to outlaw all guns tomorrow and activate you and your troopers to enforce said signed legislation, you would go house to house to confiscate if ordered?

If not, your really could have phrased your point in a less menacing way. If you would, you are an enemy to my Constitutional Republic.

The only way to get these stupid governors back in line is to make it clear to them that the Federal government will not make up their tax revenue shortfalls.
= = = = = = = = = = = =
Also start DEMANDING an honest count.
Cut off the ‘bonus’ for victims and you will see the counts drop.

Again

You come across like “Percy” in the “Green Mile”...he was just itching to do an authorized state execution just to see what it felt like. These are your fellow citizens you are speaking of. Nazi generals were hung because they followed the orders of their supposed legally recognized government officials. You and your fellow soldiers will never be welcomed in your home towns again if you end up firing on your fellow citizens.... better be sure it was worth it! Better be sure the governing authorities are on solid ground when they order such a shoot to kill order. If these shut downs end up having primarily political calculus that involves stripping away of American freedoms and the people rebel to regain their freedoms, then folks like you will be like Wiley E Coyote holding up an umbrella with a sign that says help while a multiton rock falls on you!

As an attorney, you either need grammar lessons or to stay off of the bottle when you post.

No doubt. What a mess! I can't recall seeing much of this particuilar JBT in the past, but it is amazing to me that they are now actually willing to come right out and express their bloodlust for murdering Americans who actually would like to just get back to their normal lives. Could be a troll, but I kinda doubt it. My impression is this thing thinks there has been a fundamental realignment in the powers of the State. It could well be right. I'm old enough now, with no dependents or anything else really holding me to this life, so I'm ready to go toe to toe. Sounds to me like the State is ready to 'bring it'.

Would someone tell the truth about their personal net worth vs the cash flow of their business?

If you remain isolated like the scared wet cornered rat you appear to be then how pray tell will a flu bro infect your sorry fetid a$$?

I too have wondered how these bedwetters, huddling in fright under their kitchen table with their pacifiers firmly in place could possibly be affected by (allegedly) free people attempting to go about their lives.

“May I ask what is your personal net worth? How much of it was obtained running a small business.”

Net worth maybe 300K, earned from business maybe half of that and I ran the business twenty plus years. I have a decent income but not much net worth.
