As far as the stated cause of death is concerned, it makes no difference if COVID-19 caused his death, or if they only suspect that COVID-19 caused his death.
The latest edict from the CDC states:
"COVID-19 should be reported on the death certificate for all decedents where the disease caused or is assumed to have caused or contributed to death." (The bolding is theirs, not mine).
