Why? Temps can be from many things and not just this virus. Did you call for this drastic and ridiculous measure last year or the year before?
First I'm NOT talking about government making 'taking temps' a requirement of any store or business. My suggestion is for stores to compete for customers using the new reality ...
Would I shop at a store that took temps at the door? Damn straight I would - - over every other grocery store in town... I'd like to shop without feeling I need a space suit to stay alive. And I'd like the clerk and checkout people to be wearing masks until this virus is under control.
You're right that high temps can be from many causes - I'm not asking stores to be medical doctors... just to err on the side of caution.
If a person comes to shop with a temp they can be offered a 'shopper' who will pick up 20 or 30 grocery items and bring them out to the car...
Papa John's pizza is the first company to offer 'safety' with their food. They're offering 'OVEN TO SEALED BOX' PIZZA... It's brilliant. At this point it's the only pizza I would order. Just wish they hadn't included a picture of a sauce in the corner of the box... but ad agencies are not the brightest bulbs in the pack...
All of which are cause for staying home and not circulating one of the 237000 varieties of creeping crud that constantly keep our civilization in a state of infection.
After two weeks of social distancing my personal health has improved dramatically. I was never for the most part really ill, just constantly feeling a bit off, one way or another.
My company will start taking temps on Monday. We will line up like cattle.
