I am truly sorry for your loss. If he knows the Lord he will celebrate Easter with Jesus this year. I hope that joyful thought comforts you in your sorrow. It is tragic that some will die but God is in control

They have already been notified.

It’s been approved.

“ The antibiotic zithromycin is for treating secondary bacterial infections that might occur, not the virus itself. Any broad spectrum antibiotic should be able to work as well as zithromycin.”

Actually, both antibiotics work by interfering with tRNA and mRNA, and since Mexican Beer Virus is an RNA virus, there is some thought that these antibiotics directly block viral replication.

Meanwhile, Nevada Governor has been HOARDING the drug & refusing to allow Nevada doctors to prescribe or administer the drug. He was caught HOARDING. will be fun to see his punishment.

How difficult would it be to see how many people who have been on HCQ the past several months have come down Covid-19 in New York?
It seems that would be valuable data to have. It could show if maybe it is worth our health care workers taking it prophylactic. And/Or putting at risk patients on it prophylactic. I read some doctor in China did that and, of 80 people who had been on it, none had come down with covid-19.

I had a Muslim roommate for a while in the late 70s. He was honest as could be, feared both the Shah AND the Ayatollah (said both were evil, just one was secular evil and one was religious evil), polite, loved America and wanted to stay in America for religious freedom. He would tell anyone at length why America was vastly superior to Iran.

I also knew a number of honest Turks, at least to the extent I could know them while there.

Saudis? Never met one who knew what the truth was. Got the same impression of Afghans.

And what percent of those he didn’t treat recovered? How did he choose the treatment group? Were they significantly different from the night. treatment group?

Save the patients first, them worry about your Nobel prize-winning, double blind, peer-reviewed and published in a prestigious medical journal study.

"Stop the Bleeding
Clear the Airway
Start the Breathing
Protect the Wound
Treat for Shock"
Etc. etc. etc.

Save the patients, then worry about the paperwork.

“No control group means you don’t know if the drug actually helped anyone, or how much it helped.”

To a 90% confidence level? Nope. But no same person is going to wait for a two year, side-by-side high quality test when people are dying daily. And you CAN form an intelligent opinion by watching a few hundred patients and comparing their recovery times, degree of serious issues, etc compared to those who choose to NOT take the medicine.

We spend most of our lives making decisions based on partial information. If I come down with this virus, I’ll take my chances. After all, I took malarial drugs at times in the military and have no regrets.

Thanks. But that was back in the day before the Shah fell and 911.
Different now, they are emboldened.

part of saving the patients is knowing you are not harming them. We are using the drugs but the studies need to be done. Look up xigris for example. I have been practicing medicine for 35 years and have seen a lot of initially promising things turn out to be harmful or ineffective. There is a reason we do the studies

The control groups were in the old folks homes in Seattle, who didn't get the protocol.

The outcomes don’t seem any different from what’s been reported from the start.

The difference is that these people were all old, and had other medical problems.

Could be. Haven’t been to Turkey since the secular government failed. And my room mate...well, the fact that he lived with some baptists and loved America may mean he was atypical.

Let’s pull out the punch line instead of just bait.

So instead, Alam replaced azithromycin with another decades-old antibiotic that doesn’t pose any known risks to the heart.

“Doxycycline
