As a former IT guy and Network Admin I can tell you most people would be shocked at the kind of access IT people have to everyone’s info. To do their jobs these folks need to be able to access everyone’s home directories, shared directories, e-mail etc. Otherwise really smart people think nothing of putting all kinds of stuff in those places. If an enterprise was out to eliminate someone a deep dive could probably find “something” deemed inappropriate by some standard. Could be something as small as an attachment you opened in 2016 because nothing ever dies in the network. It may sitting in a backup tape archive but it’s there.
