Effects could be... Trump’s re-election; Nationalism no longer a dirty word, swing the pendulum back on manufacturing, bring jobs home from China.

Hoping airlines will get the message on social distancing with seating.

It already is not the same country. There will be a recession after this is all over. Or, rather, we will notice there’s a recession - it has already started.

The people have lost more and more rights. Now that the sheep have been well trained, there will be more and more attacks on our freedom. Once you lose a freedom, you don’t get it back.

What remains the same is the intense hatred for Trump. He has had 3 years of constant, unrelenting attacks on his character. A partisan impeachment. Attacks on court nominees. And now, the promise of Impeachment Part II, on both Trump and Pence.

I want the USA back. Not the USA of 2019, but the USA of the 1950’s or before.

Exactly. This exercise didn’t change anything, it simply exposed that it has already changed.

Forget about "when this is over."

The pathetic reactions to this fiasco that I've read right here on FreeRepublic have convinced me that America was over a long time ago. We've just been fooling ourselves in our own silly little "freedom and liberty -- except when the government protects us" online bubble.

It reminds me of what Rabbi Mendel Kessin says about the Messianic Light, that's it's like taking a guy from 4000 years ago and dropping him onto Fifth Avenue. It'd kill him.

This “crisis” won’t be over until Chuck U Schumer and Nazi Pelosi are dead.

"When It's Over, Will We Be the Same America?"

Pray that it will not:

The USA will be prepared for the next national emergency, be it pestilence or some other evil.

The US Borders will be closed permanently to illegal immigration.

The Spoiled Brat Generations will have been jolted into reality and will reject "Liberalism"/"Progressivism", i.e. the Decadence of Western Civilisation.

The Democrat Party will have been exposed for exactly what it is.

Trump will have cleaned up Washington, as he vowed to do, a vow which, of course, incited murderous hatred in those threatened.

The Democrat Propaganda Machine, viz. the mainstream media, will have rendered itself impotent.

President Trump will be hailed as America's Great President and Hero by (most of) those who previously opposed him.

But some things will be the same:

American prosperity will BOOM again!

The USA will still have a Great President!

The greatness of the USA and the American People will still be triumphant!

It will NEVER be over if the Democrats have any say in the matter.

“ I don't know. But it appears now that doctors have the power to shut down states, cancel elections (Dr. Amy Acton, Ohio after Gov DeWine lost in court), determine who is "essential" (granting waivers to those they deem as such). Governors can make determinations on who can take prescriptions. They can limit the number of people retailers allow in their store. Agencies are encouraging citizens to turn in people that are illegally assembling. States are seriously considering closing down borders. All while a large swath of the populace cheers and shouts down any who dare to question. I'm sure governors and medical folks are doing what they think is right to mitigate this disease. I many instances, they probably are right. But that doesn't make the future of the country any less scary to me. ”

Excellent post and I totally agree. The founders never intended for and part of our government to have this kind of power no matter what the threat or circumstance.

We will be in dire need of a new and very strong amendment to our Constitution that absolutely forbids these actions in the future. This Amendment must be understood to be fully incorporated into the states. No government entity should ever have the power to close down America for these actions are a far bigger threat than any enemy we will ever face.

I am convinced this will get better, hopefully sooner the better. We will have a robust recovery. The question is how beat up we will be by then.

But that doesn’t make the future of the country any less scary to me.

************

Government already regulates, directs, controls, and influences pretty much every aspect of our lives. In fact, its hard to find anything that its voluminous laws, regulations and policies don’t touch.

Goverment in this country is pervasive and it comes at us from all levels (federal, state, and local).

Its a bit late to be worrying about an overbearing government. Big Brother is here now. And growing ever more powerful by the day.

if this "crisis", if it is a crisis, ushers in a whole rat govt, you will see changes that are unheard of...

I can imagine that they will change all the voting to no registration, no checking voter rolls, allowing non citizens to vote...

and why?...because we let them...

There are obvious winners here - Amazon, Door Dash, for instance... and losers: lots of people won’t be flying or cruising anytime soon. Large venues such as sports or concerts will suffer for a while. Brick and mortor stores were on their demise before this and could hasten down.

The State doesn’t necessarily grab the power. The sheep demand that State take it. “The Government needs to do something.” “There needs to be a law.”
