Isn’t the hospital ship supposed to handle these type emergencies?

Take them to the Mercy that is why they are in NY are these people that STUPID!!!
To: LibWhacker
Hey maybe they could pick out the people who are likely to have a cardiac arrest and pre-emptively make them comfortably but give no supportive care...

Emergency officials tell NBC News the measure will alleviate an influx of patients from going to the hospitals that have no hope of being saved.
Did anyone read the article?
These are always BS cases for the ER. Waste of time and resources. Now in addition, they would increase risk of exposure to this virus for all concerned. So. No. Dont bring dead people to the ER. Sorry.

According to the order, which a senior FDNY official shared with NBC News, the mandate applies only to adult patients. If an adult patient has obvious signs of death like rigor or has a do not resuscitate order, EMTs will not try to revive the patient.
Thanks for reading and posting. So they're basically giving EMTs the authority to rule that an obvious death (or DNR) is death rather than tasking a doctor with it. Sound right?

It is looking more and more like NY is a total cluster f#$&!, The damn ship is in the harbor specifically FOR THIS!!!

Sigh. No one read the article.

The article is well documented. Sad that so many people in our country don’t know how to read or discern. Incredibly sad.

Read the article. A person who is in rigor mortis or who has a DNR designation is not an emergency case.

IIRC, the chances of surviving a cardiac arrest are dismal from the start...like 10% survival rate...

Yes. And this ruling comes from FDNY not the ridiculous duo.

In my defense, I do find it difficult to follow NBC links. No excuse though. I read the excerpt only when I normally do go to the link. My bad.
When looking at the excerpt, I think we can agree that this is a good example of NBC sensationalizing our current situation to stoke and take advantage of people's fears and emotions.
You are right though, if you look past the NBC BS and actually get to the real story, it makes more sense.

should a (ambulance arrival)dead person be admitted to the
ER, or go somewhere else?

The EMT’s know the difference between “dead-dead” and “nearly dead.” Each year it’s only a very small number of real cases where the EMT’s can’t temporarily revive a patient at the site, transport to an ER, and then have the patient be “saved.”
That is my experience in law enforcement. FR has EMT’s and docs on here and I’d be interested in their experiences. I’ll stand corrected willingly if wrong.
(Of course, if you are one of the “saved,” it;s a pretty big deal on an individual level - the heck with statistics.)

Heartbreaking, and I’m so sorry for you and others in this situation. I know about sudden heart attacks, and not that life owes me another minute, but I would like to be around for our economic recovery, and the righteous anger I hope we bring down upon our elected, globalists rat politicians.
