Infectious Disease Doctor in NJ Has Very Hopeful Message About Success of Drug Combination In His Patients

An infectious disease doctor who has been treating coronavirus patients told Fox News’s Laura Ingraham Wednesday that the combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin is a “game changer” in fighting the deadly virus.

Ingraham started off the segment showing the breakdown of Dr. Stephen Smith's 72 patients, which included a mix of those who were prediabetic, diabetic, and had a high Body Mass Index score indicating obesity.

“The more we see this disease, the more we understand that severe rapid COVID disease is in diabetics or prediabetics … we don’t have anyone in our group over 80 that was not diabetic or pre-diabetic that was intubated,” said the founder of the Smith Center for Infectious Diseases and Urban Health. And of the younger patients that had severe disease, he explained they had very high BMIs.

“We haven’t had anyone under 70 who didn’t have a very high BMI, or was pre or diabetic, get seriously ill,” he said. “This is amazing stuff.”

When the two discussed treatment options and the use of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, Smith said they are treating everyone with it and it has had incredible results.

“No person who has received five days or more or the [drug] combination has been intubated,” he said. “The chance of that occurring by chance…are .000-something, it’s ridiculously low no matter how you look at it.”

Smith agreed with President Trump’s earlier assessment that the drug combination is a “game changer.”

“I think this is the beginning of the end of the pandemic,” he concluded. “I’m very serious.”

Low carb or no carb can get you there, but after a life of carb love, it’s pretty painful.
Based on my last 6 months, anyway, and I’m 72.

Excellent, and validates Dr Raoul’s French study and Dr V Zelenko’s findings among the NY Hasidic community.

I would love to see a 100% success rate with HCQ/Zpack but I’m not seeing it on doctor twitter accounts and internet articles. However it’s great for a ‘first line of defense’ and works quite fast for some patients who get discharged, even some on ventilators. Consensus seems to be it might need to be given earlier, on positive test and covid19 symptoms, rather than just on hospitalized patients. Italy is doing this now. Hopefully it will make a big difference for them.

Bumping for later.

Skimming through, at first I caught a glimmer that being thin was a good thing, only to read that having a high BMI was the saving grace. Which is it?

I was just tested yesterday for Corona-19, should I begin binge eating to plump up?

Medical Scientific evidence doesn't matter.

As long as Trump is for it, its all "anecdotal"......

I'm sure none of these Trump haters would want these "unproven" meds.

Yes, you are right. If a patient shows symptoms of Covid-19 and is tested positive, putting him on the HCQ + Azithromycin regimen shortens their hospital stay, prevents disease progression and eventually intubation, and of course lessens the burden on hospitals and health providers.

For already intubated patients, there have been anecdotal evidence that they have brought back people on respirators from the brink of the dead, but how widespraed is this? this still needs to be widely observed.

“’I think this is the beginning of the end of the pandemic,’ he concluded. ‘I’m very serious.’”

That’s the line I picked up on during the interview last night.

A long talk with the infectious disease team soon revealed what this and other doctors have confirmed. There are treatments and they are having success with them.

So then, why is it that guys like Dr. Stephen Fauci King are rolling eyes? Because Dr. Fauci the Duce is a bureaucrat. He is paid to prolong problems, not solve them. It isn’t a conscience effort on his part. It is in his DNA since he has been a bureaucrat for so damn long. Cures and treatments without years of testing are anathema to him. They solve a problem and that is a job security no no right there.”

But then I slipped off the chair. Thank God I’m so heavy the beam just ripped out of the ceiling.

I knew being fat would save my lie one day!!!”

Thanks for the laugh. That was funny (:

>>So they’re saying that the drugs did not help patients under 70 that were obese or had diabetes/pre-diabetes?<<

Not quite, and you’re right, it’s poorly written.

I think what he means is that the only people who progressed to a serious case (and possibly a ventilator) AND were under 70 were either obese or diabetic/pre-diabetic. But that was before they got four or five days of the drug combo into them.

It sounds like (again—confusing) after the first two days, he started putting everyone on the drug combo and from then on, no one progressed to a serious case, whether fat or diabetic, or over 70 or even 80. That’s what it sounded like he was saying, but again, very unclear. If that is happening though, it would explain both his “game changer” comment and his “.000 something” remark.

By the way, if this does continue to work out, we will be able to trigger the TDS-afflicted just by working “game changer” into any casual conversation (about anything at all) since President Trump was, indeed, the first to publicly (very publicly) use that phrase when referring to the use of HCQ.

Body Mass Index, so yeah, if you have a high BMI that means you got mo fat than muscle.

Not necessarily. When I was at 7% bodyfat, my BMI had me as obese. Problem was, I was into bodybuilding and carried a lot of weight in muscle. So no, the BMI does not take into account %bodyfat. It is generally a good predictor however, being that 95% of the population doesnt have big muscles.

I REALLY liked the one with a guy running after a girl. I can’t recall “the word”, but it said, “It’s over, man. Let her go.” It’s kind of dorky, but I liked it; it was funny. They don’t have that one any more.
