I agree with you. The president knows that the economy and peoples’ livelihoods depend on an end to this in the near future. I personally don’t like this doctor and a lot on here will continue to go along what with he says, but people have differing opinions. If small businesses are not allowed to open back up soon, I don’t care how much money the govt throws at them, they will never reopen. This whole thing is a war that was started by China and the media and politicians that are owned by China. The president has his hands full with the deep state going into full court press against him and America. We are at war and with war comes the misinformation from the other side. The media is Tokyo Rose. Whole states are closing completely down (most run by Dem governors}. Everyones lives are interwoven as far as the economy in this country. Even if one major sector falls it hurts the rest of us in some way. Now you have an entire economy put on hold. it cannot sustain this very much longer as it would take years to come back.
Herd immunity still works in rare cases of reinfection. There are people who can still contract an illness from a virus, even if they have antibodies. This is true if their immune system is suppressed or there is a large viral load they are exposed to.
Reinfection happens with chicken pox and many other viruses, but herd immunity still works to suppress outbreaks.
I don't like it either but it is what it is.

My youngest son was sick as a dog with the symptoms of the China virus in mid-February. He fully recovered and has been back at work (FedEx) since. He believes he's already had it saying it was the "worst kind of flu" he ever had. Came and went within 7 - 9 days.
He'd love to know if he's had it already since I cannot see him due to my own being immune-system repressed from a medication I have to take (Humira)

We would all be sitting around campfires outside eating pork rinds and jerky and trying desperately to survive one day at a time. No homes, no TV, no banks, no gasoline, no ATM’s, no nothing. And then we would all die. End of the human race.

From everything we know about this virus it is not SO different from prior ones that most won’t get lasting immunity. Dr. Birx has stated this.

Consultants are good at boring deeply into organizations by making themselves and their advice “indispensible”. Solving problems would mean they are no longer needed and their lucrative income streams would dry up.
Of course management loves consultants because they lend the appearance of bringing in “experts” to do something and, at the same time you have a convenient scapegoat if things go wrong.
Or even think of the virus that causes mono. You are infected sometime in early childhood, then mono shows up typically in the late teen years. Even too, they theorize the virus then causes problems as an adult. Most people have been exposed, never seem to have a problem with it.

Social distancing isn’t the same as lockdown. He said social distancing will continue. He didn’t say lockdown will continue
