The 64k question however, is whether the eventual true number was a result of the $5T mitigation cost? Or has CV been around in the US since early winter (Nov-Dec), and we're actually at the tail end (caboose), rather than early warning canaries?

And IMO, the #1 goal will be to create some kind of rapid *random* testing/sampling program where CDC "commanders" (assuming it's militarized to some degree) can immediately *statistically* project/assess "enemy" strength, location, penetration, etc.
Without the ability to determine threat level, location(s), etc, we'll end up doing a similar clueless shotgun approach again.
It looks like the guy who has been doing bench work to create a “synthetic” gamma globulin antibody against the SARS from 2 years ago which serendipitously has been stable in COVID-19 has given them a 2 year head start on the “anti venom” cure. Will be ready soon. IMHO that will probably be the best treatment and probably the only treatment for those “in extremis”. And it is a good fit clinically because every ER guy and almost all the INternal med and surgical guys will be very comfortable with regimens that look like “ venom antitoxin.” The problem with that is you probably won’t be able to use it again and again. If you try to use it chronically you will probably get “Immune Complex Deposition” in the kidneys and kill them. So treating providers with small doses regularly probably won’t be an application.
I don’t know. Have you seen the head of the CDC speaking at any of those briefings since they mucked up the testing so badly?

You cannot effectively function as a mediocre economy, let alone strong, by making people remain apart. It cannot work. Further, who’s going to police it? Who’s going to WANT to be policed? huge conflict. What is trump thinking? That’s a sincere question. I’m VERY worried about what’s happening, especially under a republican president! We would have NEVER thought this would happen like this; under obama, yes...under trump, no way. And yet....
The other thing I am quite concerned about is a vaccine MANDATE. They’ll come out and say (especially led by farci) that the only way we can ‘reallly be sure’ that everyone is safe, is to mandate a vaccine.
Well, that is an entirely different subject and you’ll receive no argument from as far as whether we like it or not, or whether it will be challenging or not, but think about it...if I told you 20 years ago, that a year later, you would be effectively stripped searched in a cattle line to get on an airplane...what would you have thought? There are events that are out of our control and we have to adapt. As long as it’s not affecting our freedoms and liberties, we will have to deal with it...at least temporarily.
Fauci reminds me of the black-clad Nazi villain from ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’...the one whose face melted off...

Whenever I worked with patients in jails or hospitals the first two weeks went sort of okay depending but the third week with slow paper work or no goals, no date as to their case or diagnosis they started acting out badly then they resolve to their fate.
Six months( usually less) in lock up or a hospital and psychologically it’s over. They’re in the system.
Same would happen to me. Sooner or later we break.
