EMT’s all know if you can’t get the heart started at the home the person is probably DRT. If they aint breathing when you show up, chances are they arent gonna start again . So do they give up trying? no.The family is watching.

I was responding to the hollywood notion that a stopped heart can be restarted with a defibrillator. That is why we still teach CPR at my place of business even though we have AED’s available. In any case if one doesn't have the proper drugs on hand for a stopped heart the chances are slim of a restart. Hugh respect for EMT's that face this almost daily.
