The U.S. topped 1,000 coronavirus deaths in a single day for the first time Wednesday, a daily death toll more than double that of two of America's most deadly illnesses lung cancer and the flu.
Death counts from the virus are difficult to keep up to date, but the Johns Hopkins coronavirus database whose sources include the World Health Organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the European CDC and the National Health Commission of China shows that the U.S. hit 1,040 cases Wednesday at 10:25 p.m. ET.
Since the virus' first appearance in the U.S. in late January, 5,116 people have died and more than 215,000 have been infected.
The previous high mark for a single day in the U.S. was Tuesday, with 504 deaths.
Some researchers say the daily death toll could more than double to 2,200 or more by mid-April.

I think the Administration’s 100K-240K estimate is a bit low.

... seriously based on what? Or do you just a natural pessimist?
This is quite a thread the first two are extreme pessimist and they use MSN as their Source I guess we’re all going to die.
How about based on the fact the new-death numbers have increased markedly each day and we’re already at 5000+. Do you have a more optimistic assessment?
~1200 deaths but about ~1500 recoveries

...
Yes I choose to be optimistic I choose to have faith I choose to not be a pessimist. And I do have a degree in statistics by the way. So I crunch numbers all day long I just choose to have faith. It is a choice. Anecdotally I see people doing things , and we are not Italy and we are not China and we are not some third-world country. go ahead and throw rocks I have a very large catcher’s mitt.
if my math is right that would mean 1000 days at that level of death toll to reach 1M total. That’s a lot longer than the 2-4 weeks from Tuesday’s presser. Even if it doubles, it would be 500 days, almost a year and a half. I have no doubt things sill get worse, but I’m not buying the estimates yet.
oops sorry that number is from the old failed Imperial model. It should 100 days, still three times longer than the time frame mentioned in the presser.
Stop destroying the economy, this is just a cold, it’s a conspiracy to get Trump ...... /said every flubro ever
I’d like to know how many of those dead were given HCQ/Z-Pac/Zinc before they died.
The total death number in the United States (now at 5,100) is doubling every 3-4 days. So the curve needs to flatten. Four doublings, or 2 weeks, at this rate gets the number to 80,000.
2,200 deaths a day would still lag daily deaths from abortion.
No, the lead time for deaths is 2 to 3 weeks after spikes, and it’s still really climbing. The deaths haven’t even started rolling in yet, it’s going to get bad. We need to stay home because odds are you WON’T get Hydroxychloroquine in the hospital if you have to go, if you’re hoping for a ventilator that’s a death sentence. In a month, maybe the medical community will drop their pride and start treating people with HC at early onset, until then, it’s mass casualties. These deaths, a lot of them anyway, are happening for nothing more than withholding HC from patients because “THEY KNOW BEST”.

I’ll shut up now you have an answer for everything. You win. Your statistics are superior. I give in. I hope you feel very Victorious.

Very few if any, and if they were, they waited until days and days on a ventilator. They are not treating, they have refused to drop their pride, they know what’s best for you, and that’s a last ditch try on the death machine (ventilator).
I have faith too, but I’m also realistic. There are wayyy too many people in this country not taking this threat seriously. I fervently hope the administration’s estimate is too high, but I see no indication of that... I’ve been monitoring the stats daily and so far, aside from a few states, there’s no moderating bend yet in the trendlines. Hopefully, it’ll start to show in a few days.
I’m not interested in throwing rocks... we’re on the same side here.
They don’t even have 3,000 cases yet. 3.55% fatality rate among them
