I wonder if Kemp is sorry he didn’t appoint Collins instead.
I think there is a good chance, now, that he will be. After all, he went against Trump to appoint Loeffler. Collins was the most qualified, and deserving, in terms of GOP politics. But Kemp wanted to improve his standing with women voters, after Abrams almost got him in 2018. And Abrams will almost certainly try again in 2022.
I think it is usually wise to pick the most qualified in these cases; but Kemp rolled the dice and may have weakened himself. In late Feb., Collins and Loeffler were pretty even in polling. I haven't seen a poll lately, but is hard to imagine Loeffler hasn't been hurt.
Kemp sold the senate seat to Loeffler for $500,000. He had guaranteed a loan for that amount on a failing business. Right after she was appointed that business got bought out by Perdue Agra and then shortly after that bought by a compny her husband owns through ICE.
