MEXICO CITY - Twenty-eight U.S. spring break tourists who returned to Texas after vacationing with a large group in the Mexican beach resort of Cabo San Lucas have tested positive for coronavirus, drawing attention to possibly low detection of cases in Mexico.
The 28 confirmed cases are self-isolating and dozens more are under quarantine while being monitored and tested, the city of Austin said in a statement on Tuesday.
“About a week and a half ago, approximately 70 people in their 20s departed in a chartered plane for a spring break trip,” the city said, adding that some of the group returned on separate commercial flights.
“Currently, 28 young adults on this trip have tested positive for COVID-19 and dozens more are under public health investigation,” the statement said.
Austin public health authorities and the University of Texas at Austin have contacted every “spring breaker onboard the plane using flight manifests from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention,” the city’s statement said.
Mexico’s usually packed beaches, bars and clubs have largely emptied after U.S. authorities issued a ban on non-essential travel to Mexico, including for tourist trips across the U.S.-Mexico land border.
Mexico declared a health emergency on Monday and issued stricter rules aimed at containing the fast-spreading coronavirus.

You, and you alone, are responsible for your safety and all measures taken to protect yourselves. If these people, along with everyone else around you, had COVID, why did you break your quarantine and choose to be around the rest of the world?

LOL! You are right, US authorities are saying you and I are fine without N95 masks, which they say should be left for healthcare providers who are intimate with COVID shedders.
So, you can get an N95 mask and eye protection and pretend you are as important and likely to be intimate with COVID patients as doctors and nurses and be “super okay,” use a simpler mask and no eye protection, or stay at home.
Your choice. You are going to die any which way.

I work in a hospital ER. I’m asymptomatic with this thing. I got the word today. I have to stay out of work for a week. I’ve been being monitored at work and at home(my wife is a CNA) by having my temperature taken twice a day. So far all has been normal.

The could have got this one the plane trip back! It is too vague to just say you got this on a beach trip. Do you know where you contract every germ? Of course not. Stupid reporting...creating more hysteria, and xenophobia!
