I don’t like Fauci either.
He said that it will take several MONTHS before the PROVEN effective treatment of hydroxycholoroquine (spelling?) has these clinical trials that he keeps touting.
I think Fauci has an agenda that includes NOT having this gamechanging medicine available to the masses. For whatever reason Fauci wants the pandemic to rage on!

I think Dr. Fauci was addressing it as two different topics. There is the compassionate style HCQ prescription and the clinical trial style HCQ prescription. I could have understood him wrong (?), but I was left with the impression that Dr. Fauci expressed that there was an ultimate need for the latter. Personally I don’t think that Dr. Fauci intended to imply that the need to perform the latter precluded in any significant way the desirability of performing the former when appropriate. I do not recall his exact words but I was trying to listen somewhat closely to his response.
You can’t have good certainty about prescription drugs until you have double blind clinical trials. Using HCQ for COVID-19 is a very new and not yet scientifically proven method of treatment. “scientifically proven” implies in some way “clinical trials.” However we are stuck with compassionate prescriptions as a less than perfect situation while awaiting the months it would take for clinical trials, while allowing such clinical trials to proceed in some fashion. This is just my lay-person impression and it may be substantially flawed in which case I welcome informed corrections.
