I heard some elected officials stating that this "shutdown" will have to last several months...

No way...Look at what these companies had to do...Economy is being destroyed...

These companies are still paying for employee health insurance at this time...But, I am sure that they will stop paying if this shutdown just drags on...

So with unemployment added to the $600 enhancement for four months these people who normally probably make 4 or 5 hundred a week will be getting twice that. If the virus is under control in a month will they opt to return to work?

I was furloughed today because of this. Currently one month off, paid health - no pay. We shall see what happens. Praying for all my colleagues.

The economy is being destroyed on purpose. Corona virus is just the excuse.

Since all other efforts have failed, including impeachment, this is the next step in the coup.

Yes, the epidemic is causing some hardships. Imagine what the economic environment would be like, if global business interests and services (oligarchs) could more severely punish people for talking about it.

Between the stupidity of this program and the even bigger stupidity of the idiot moron liberals, it’s enough to make you want to start the revolution now:

Liberal mantra: Trump wants to open things back up because he’s just trying to help his big friends on the stock market.

Government mantra: we have to keep people apart.

Reality: Clothing stores, book stores, CD & DVD shops, and just about every small business in the land is being killed. Meanwhile, walk into any Super Wal-Mart, Super Target and buy: clothing, books, DVDs, CDs, etc.

So who is trying to help the big guys and who is trying to help the little guys?

Believe me, when this is over only the big guys will be standing and the little guys will be gone. And you’ll know it’s true in the prices you’ll pay.

I think if the malaria drug works and death rates start falling you’re going to see Trump start backpedaling in double-time.

Good piece on Foxnews right now, on rescuing restaurants. John Taffer, host of "Bar Rescue."

All the food in the walk in coolers is lost. There is no recovery for that, and the expense is not covered by the bailout.

When the shutdown is lifted, the capacity will be reduced because spacing will have to be increased - just to quell nerve. Revenue will not match pre-virus revenue. There is a good chance that the reduced capacity (and reduced revenue) means not in business. And too, all that depends on the consumer coming back.

Same capacity issue exists in other entertainment. Sports arena, movie theater, broadway.

Going to be a big shakeup, is what's going to happen. Many people will lose the fire. as Trump has mentioned a few times, "momentum" is a critical factor to success. Once you stop, recovery is seriously at risk.

It has already lasted several months because our government and our people didn’t shut the whole country down back in Feb. Everyone should have stayed home for 21 days. Only exceptions health care, cops and a skeleton crew of utility workers and all of them living at work. If the entire world had done this, we would never see another case of CV. Now, we’re stuck with it forever.

Look around. Only a very small sliver of people are staying home. Everyone else thinks it’s party time or they’re driving 100s of miles to find tp.

Unfortunately, this will ultimately result in Single-Payer, as people realize that tying health-insurance to employment is just not sustainable. Just a matter of time.

Macy’s has been teetering for decades. It’s like people who “die” from the Wuhan Flu generally have 1-3 other underlying problems. Macy’s may be killed by Kung Flu but they were about ready to go anyway.

The Dims are getting the depression they always wanted. With it they hope to get “temporary” measures of greater federal government activity, in all sectors, that like the “new deal” they will work to keep in place after the crisis is over.

If I were Q I’d be betting the Dims and the Chicoms cooperated in this. I’m not Q.

Macy’s, Kohls and Gap have been at death’s door for several years. Last time I went to any of them it was the same...crappy product that looked like it wouldn’t survive the washer and all the racks looked they’d been pawed through by crazed raccoons. Also useless employees...when I could find one.

Every company is going to be doing this if they are closed. The CV relief bill didn’t give business money to pay workers, but if they lay them off, the workers get normal unemployment PLUS $600 a week, which might be more than what they make at Kohls.

Why wouldn’t the company do this, it takes all the burden off, they don’t pay insurance, and when things start up, they should have a lot of prospects since millions of people will be out of work — that is, after 4 months, since who is going back to work when they are making more money sitting in their house?
