AUSTIN, Texas (KWTX) Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's dramatically expanded order that requires travelers who arrive in the state to self-quarantine for 14 days went into effect Monday.
The order now includes not only travelers from New Orleans and the New York Tri-State area, but also the states of California, Louisiana and Washington and the cities of Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit and Miami.
The requirement went into effect at noon on Monday and remains in effect until further notice.
The restrictions are part of the states growing effort to curb the spread of the new coronavirus in Texas.
On Sunday Abbott said state troopers will patrol highway entry points near the Louisiana border.
They will require everyone stopped in vehicles entering the state to self-isolate.
Louisianas governor, meanwhile says stay at home orders that closed many businesses may be extended beyond April 13.
As of Monday morning, 2,552 cases of the virus were reported in Texas with 34 deaths.
As of Monday morning, 36 cases of the virus had been confirmed in McLennan County, Bell had 28 with one death, Limestone had two, and Coryell, Falls, Hill, Leon and Navarro each had one.

What about “travelers” from Mexico?
How are they quarantining them?
Are they agreeing to self isolation?
Self Reporting?
Ankle Bracelets?
Quarantine facilities?
That’s a good policy. Here’s another bit of advice. Big stores that sell groceries should have each employee’s temperature checked upon arrival. And generally, everyone should be wearing some protection for others in those places (masks—even homemade, gloves, etc.).
So easily rights are stripped and many freepers salute it
LOL
Couldn’t find any postable pictures for that image.
This is causing a lot of problems traveling from out of state to MD Anderson for appointments. They have to self-quarantine for 14 days IN Texas prior to any appointment at MD Anderson.
Just seal our borders....all of them
It is rather shocking, isn’t it. I made a similar post a few days ago that wasn’t received very well by some.
Nearly all of the cases here in the panhandle were people from here that traveled somewhere else and returned here. Need a bigger police state to stop that too?
Counties and cities should do the same.
Our part time neighbors called yesterday to inform us they were coming in with friends and relatives from hot spots around the state. Excuse me, but stay the hell away from us and don’t bring CV to our neighborhood.
Was hoping to get out of metro NY/NJ/Conn by visiting relatives in Texas. Guess I can forget that.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves. ― William Pitt the Younger
I’m not sure how that would work. If you flew maybe you would have to sign a promise to sslf quarantine for 2 weeks?
I guess you could take a train to Philadelphia and fly from there but they might check IDs at the airport in TX and make you sign the form anyway.
Or, I could take a flight to Chicago, and take a separate flight from Chicago on a separate ticket to DFW. Then use my passport instead of my driver’s license for ID. Address is on the driver’s license but not the passport. If they asked where I was coming from I could say it was the town I was born in in Illinois - birthplace is shown on passport.
Chicago is covered in the new order. Philadelphia might work better, if only to save time for the airport agents trying to figure out if that town is included. But then again, later they might have an outbreak in Philadelphia.
“Chicago is covered in the new order.”
Well, I’d have to fly something like NY/NJ to Indianapolis, then separate ticket for Indianapolis to DFW, and still I’d use passport for ID. I’d do the separate ticket so my arrival ticket in DFW was not showing departure was from NY/NJ.
