OK, maybe so.
The Korean populace is well organized and obey government edicts. The Germans are doing far better than Italy, Spain, and France. Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, and Taiwan have performed well. The character and cohesion of a society matters.
CDC is a bureaucracy. They tried to maintain total oversight over a situation that was spinning out of control. They didn’t have the tools to do the job. Their first attempt at a test failed because of a defective reagent. And there was no ability to conduct mass testing. Trump essentially fired them and turned to the private sector. The results have been spectacular. The silver lining is that we now have a testing protocol that is the best in the world and could serve us well for the next pandemic or bio terrorism attack.
The CDC needs to be reformed and repurposed. It has suffered from mission creep.

Go to You Tube. Search:White House Channel live. The days briefing will be there, showing a ‘Live Stream has not started” screen. Hover cursor along time elapsed line until a thumbnail pic appears. That is the start time of the replay. POTUS is normally late, sometimes by 45”.
I usually watch the replay and do so in segments, because I have other thing to do, even at the time I have available.
Previous days briefings will show on the right-hand side and will be titled as to how long ago they aired.
It heats the masks to 160f for a period of time then to 200f for another interval, simple as that and the FDA or CDC has been sitting on the machines until now.

IIRC, they made it so the machine could only be used at the manufacturer’s facility. Trump called Hahn and FDA fast tracked a rule so that there are now subsidiary clinical settings that are allowed to sterilize the masks.
I did read that hydrogen peroxide is also used. Are the masks soaked before drying? I have read they can be sterilized in a home over at 160F for 30 minutes OR at 200 for 30 minutes. My oven won’t go below 170F, so I would use that. I wonder how the elastic holds up?
