Birx: US could see up to 200,000 coronavirus deaths if 'we do things almost perfectly'

White House coronavirus response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx on Monday warned that up to 200,000 people in the U.S. could die from the coronavirus outbreak if "we do things almost perfectly."

In an appearance on NBC's "Today," Birx stressed that the Trump administration remains "very worried" about every city in the United States and the possibility that the virus could get "out of control." She also noted that some metropolitan areas "were late in getting people to follow" social distancing requirements and that it had an effect on the virus's spread.

"If we do things together well, almost perfectly, we could get in the range of 100,000 to 200,000 fatalities," Birx said after being asked about U.S. projections related to the outbreak. "We don’t even want to see that." She added that the administration's models show a worst-case scenario of between 1.6 million and 2.2 million deaths if the U.S. were to enforce zero restrictions on travel and gathering. Asked about whether 100,000 to 200,000 deaths in the U.S. was a best-case scenario, Birx emphasized that a best-case scenario would be "100 percent of Americans doing precisely what is required."

"But we’re not sure based on the data ... that all of America is responding in a uniform way to protect one another," she added. "We have to factor that in."

This is HER QUOTE:

“If we do things together well, almost perfectly, we could get in the range of 100,000 to 200,000 fatalities,” Birx said after being asked about U.S. projections related to the outbreak. “We don’t even want to see that.”

You obviously can’t read.

Well if there’s nothing we can do and we’re pretty much all going to get it, then why all this fuss and bother? Let’s live it up!

Seriously though, they run the risk of ppl saying exactly that when they keep making such a grim prognosis.

Regardless, this is rapidly approaching what mass hysteria looks like.

We’re in the process of committing national suicide for fear of a statistically insignificant illness.

Not to mention shredding the Constitution while we’re at it.

Of course, if you/yours are one of that tiny percentage it’s a tragedy, but is it REALLY worth destroying our progeny’s inheritance ?

Should have chased the tonic water with vodka or it would not make any sense.

0.0556%, less than the typical seasonal flu mortality?

SOMEONE is deliberately setting a very low threshold for calling the effort a failure.

This would be like CNN setting up a Trump rally in the Grand Canyon, so they could say he had a disappointing turnout, with acres of unfilled space...

I’m looking at the data and I can’t see anything anywhere near that. The fatality increase rate is falling

Yup. Another reason why they’re data modeling in the dark. ChiCom numbers are worthless.

But we’re the experts, so we can’t go to the podium and show how clueless we really are.

“Deaths in the US won’t begin to approach that under any scenario.”

The problem is that you don’t know who to believe. Plus, whenever there’s a crisis the ‘experts’ go into CYA-mode and begin stressing ‘worst-case’ scenarios. Then the president, who has to balance public health with other concerns, has to make a call and be able to justify it.

We can’t base our decisions on suspect numbers. We either take other countries’ numbers as fact or we throw all the numbers out and admit we don’t have a clear picture about ANY of this.

I believe my gut instinct. I DO NOT BELIEVE THESE BUREAUCRATIC GLOBALIST COMMIES WHO LIE NON STOP ABOUT THEIR FIGURES AND MODELS AND THEIR PROJECTIONS when they want to run their propraganda machine on people.
Climate change much?

I get the thought that if we are going to reach that number, a lot of people better lie down quick. We have been involved with this virus for about two and a half months nation wide and we have had only 2100 deaths. Better get at it folks.

And at the rate we are going, it’s going to take a few years to get it done. Even with the third world country of New York taking charge of covering our quota.
