We haven’t had anything near a Depression in eons — you cheapen the term.
“We havent had anything near a Depression in eons you cheapen the term.”
WRONG. It happened under the Obama regime.
People were out of work for so long they used up their ‘unemployment’ (99 weeks max?) and were still not working.
The statistic quoted (that 5% etc..) is meaningless when it come to expressing how MANY people are actually ‘OUT OF WORK’.
The real statistic (never quoted) exceeded 25% during the Obama years -— 25% which is the threshold measure of ‘a DEPRESSION’
.
You are so correct. When Americans really have no access to food, and sometimes resort to eating the stalks of what were vegetable plants, and chewing leather to try to ward off hunger pains—then I might accept the idea of a depression.
Mom did not speak of it often and most regretted not being able to provide a roll or scrap to the passing desperate men riding the rails. It was an emotional scar that shaped her life.
