there are absolute contraindications to using quinines. Ones you cant know by looking at the patient.
true enough ... the biggie is heart disease, ESPECIALLY when the cardiac electrical system is damaged and/or abnormal, because Plaquinil widens the QTc interval, which can be fatal in such cases ... Azithromax has exactly the same issue, so the two together are a double-whammy from that perspective ...
so, while for most people those arent issues, a select group of cardiac patients should NOT be taking these drugs casually ... thats why GOOD doctors must have a good understanding of the drugs they prescribe and their dangers and limitations, ESPECIALLY in the cases of polypharmacy and/or pre-existing chronic conditions ...
YES!!!! You got it ...this can’t get handed out like candy.
“this cant get handed out like candy.”
LOL! I thought about putting that exact phrase in my post!
People who have heart disease generally know it. People with G6PD Def usually dont. If you look at the prevalence and demographics of G6PD Def. You may begin to understand why my initial response was This is a terrible Drug. In some demographics the Deficiency is up to 10%. The morbidity of hemolytic anemia can be fatal by itself.
