I demand tax free casinos, tax free cigarette sales and federal laws don’t apply because we are a SOVEREIGN NATION.

But you cant stop the billions in welfare...

So glad DJT is president.

Sounds like one of those fake tribes with a few dozen members. I don’t gamble at Indian casinos, but the one near us has a great seafood bar.

Why would they want to start a casino? I’ve known people to lose enormous amounts of money in that business, even going bankrupt over and over again.

Are these people genetically verified as WAMPANOAG?

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, also known as the People of the First Light, has inhabited present day Massachusetts and Eastern Rhode Island for more than 12,000 years. After an arduous process lasting more than three decades, the Mashpee Wampanoag were re-acknowledged as a federally recognized tribe in 2007. In 2015, the federal government declared 150 acres of land in Mashpee and 170 acres of land in Taunton as the Tribe’s initial reservation, on which the Tribe can exercise its full tribal sovereignty rights. The Mashpee tribe currently has approximately 2,600 enrolled citizens.

Ignorant here.

Am I inferring correctly that this group did not even own this land until 2015?
Further inference that the corrupt administration in 2015 took land from other owners to gift these “poor folks?”
As in reparations?

Please note sarcasm where applicable.

Mr. Trump seems to be a tough businessman. He plays hardball.
In business, survival is the name of the game.
Back in California, my ex-Gov. Arnold S. was also known to be hardnosed and aggressive while managing all his real estate or protecting his Brand.

I had to take a look at this. From a newspaper in Massachusetts:

"...The tribe and its supporters have said the case sets a dangerous precedent as it represents the first time in the modern era that a tribe has had trust lands stripped away.

“It’s about our tribal rights. The land that we live on. The blood and bones of our ancestors,” Cromwell said. “We’ve never moved. We’ve always remained here. We should have our land intact. That’s what it’s really about.”

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe was granted 321 acres of land in trust in 2015 by then-President Barack Obama, a move that carved out the federally protected land needed for the tribe to develop its planned $1 billion First Light casino, hotel and entertainment resort.

But a group of residents sued, arguing the federal government couldn’t take land into trust for the tribe because it wasn’t officially recognized as of June 1, 1934. That was the year the federal Indian Reorganization Act, which laid the foundation for modern federal Indian policy, became law..."

Not a lot of detail here, but it looks like the Obama administration just gave them land, and the nearby residents, probably whose buildings and businesses will be demolished, took objection as far as I can tell. I will bet that 321 acres wasn't uninhabited swampland.
