Neither one are conservative by any stretch of the imagination.

He certainly should be questioned on his record in the 2020 campaign. He has an opponent who has been making a good case for a change and bringing out Massie’s record.

He is chairman of the 2nd Amendment caucus.

He voted against the gun bill because it is contained some terrible things.

Conservative Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) held the mirror opposite position of Democrats who voted against the legislation: he supports concealed-carry reciprocity but didn’t want the background check measure attached.

“It throws millions of dollars at a faulty program and it will result in more law-abiding citizens being deprived of their right to keep and bear arms,” Massie wrote in a Facebook post ahead of the vote.

His opponent once called for a military coup against Trump.

Massie has always supported Trump but he will vote against anything unconstitutional and he will bend to no-one including the McCarthy/Pelosi etc.

That’s an excellent point. I am with Massie on principle — including many of the times he voted AGAINST President Trump.

But someone like him probably has no business in a legislative body today. He can be as courageous and principled as can be, but being on the losing end of 425-10 votes in the House all the time doesn’t accomplish anything. As I said about Roy Moore a couple of years ago, someone like this is far more effective in an executive position like governor where one man CAN make a real difference.

Massie has balls. He won’t compromise. That’s why they keep sending him back to DC.

And lets hope it continues...

You channel Massie’s campaign ads well.
It is disingenuous to suggest that Massie has always supported President Trump.
A Congressman does not have to reflexively support President Trump to do a good job but Massie has been on the wrong side of too many issues. You have to get into the mix and dirty your hands to get anything done. Being a purist burnishes your own halo but lets Americans down.
What is the excuse for opposing gun permit owners being able to cross state lines?
Voting against the border time after time because it is not paid for? Forgive me that is ludicrous. The savings in money paid to support illegal aliens with their born in the USA citizen children, savings from housing the illegal alien criminals in jail, the cost of their crimes to citizens & the justice department, the drugs & disease they import.

The House is expected to pass legislation on Wednesday that would make firearm concealed carry permits valid across state lines.

The bill, which the National Rifle Association has called its top legislative priority, would treat concealed carry permits more like drivers licenses, authorizing gun owners to travel with their firearms to other states that allow concealed carry. They say the measure would help otherwise law-abiding gun owners to avoid unwittingly violating conflicting state laws.

I suggest you visit his facebook page for explanations. For example he voted against the concealed carry law because it wasn’t hardcore ENOUGH!

He has his reasons.

He is the chairman of the 2nd Amendment caucus in Congress and a strong 2A supporter

Dec. 6, 2017
House Could Make Concealed Carry Permits Valid Across State Lines
The measure has been combined with one strengthening background checks, a move meant to bring gun control advocates on board.

This is what it means to get your hands dirty. You can’t just insist on what you consider the perfect bill or nothing happens. You move the ball down the court and improve as you get the opportunity.

I already posted you the reason he voted against it. It had junk in there:

“It throws millions of dollars at a faulty program and it will result in more law-abiding citizens being deprived of their right to keep and bear arms,” Massie wrote in a Facebook post ahead of the vote.”

“There’s another bill they snuck inside of this. It’s a Trojan Horse bill.”

Congressman Thomas Massie explains why he voted ‘no’ on the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act even though he’s an advocate for the 2nd Amendment.

I’m happy to see you’re a Rand fan. He’s my favorite U.S. Senator.

Massie should learn a lesson or two from Rand Paul ... because Sen. Paul does a much more effective job of making his case publicly, but voting for imperfect legislation when it’s prudent to compromise.

Some folks are discussing all the times Massie voted against Trump on specific bills. How many times did he vote against RAND PAUL?

I don’t do Facebook and I judge by results. Because of his “principled” position of not compromising, a very important protection for legal gun owners was defeated & they remain at risk of imprisonment for a moments forgetfulness and are not as safe when they travel in our Country.

It is foolish to wait for perfection and sacrifice significant improvements while doing so. It is an egotistic position - his purity is primary above the welfare of his constituents.

I’m not so sure about that. It doesn’t take any “balls” to be casting inconsequential votes in a legislative body all the time.

The law violated the Fourth Amendment by allowing for the confiscation of firearms from Veterans. That’s why he voted against it..

Liberty Score: A

https://www.conservativereview.com/scorecard/thomas-massie/

Who runs that 538 place you reference?

Freepers creepers, this site can’t call a spade a spade. When the Pres (may he live and be successful) relies on liberal democrat treasury secretary ideas and goes down the path of no return do ya have to cheer him on over the cliff? He’s gone in 5 years you know. Stick to principals. If he had used the bully pulpit he could have done so much more. Such a waste with his staff larded up with the Swamp and he not having the conservative foundation to fall back on. Political/media savvy sure....but damnit, no Constitutionalist.
