U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams on Friday labeled Detroit as a “hot spot” for the coronavirus pandemic and said the situation there will worsen in the next week.
For those on the front lines of the crisis, reaching this point has been an unfortunate expectation.
“I have been saying all along as an epidemiologist that we are going to see a big tsunami,” said Dr. Teena Chopra, an infectious diseases specialist for Detroit Medical Center. “This is going to explode. We are seeing the surge. The growth rate is 100 percent. We are doubling every day...”

Don't you need math to get into med school? Michigan had 3657 cases at the end of yesterday with 993 new cases today for a new total of 4650. That's not 100% growth. And that's state wide.
For the last 4 days the growth rate nationally has been slowing. New York had 100 fewer cases today than yesterday.
If the country is slowing Michigan will soon slow.

There are 45 cases in Kent county currently ( Grand Rapids & suburbs). Still far less than the 1800 odd cases in Wayne county & Detroit. Your point stands, however.

Delta operates a major hub at Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW), which is actually located in Romulus, about 20 miles west of downtown Detroit. I go through this airport about 6 times per year; it is actually a very nice, very modern facility.
