Every state, every county, every Health Board, every health network, and every hospital is doing worst-case disaster scenario planning. They are all asking the same question — how do we allocate scarce resources?
It is silly to think people are not asking this question. It’s equally silly to think that, when push comes to shove, that younger people would be prioritized behind older people.
I’m in the old people category and, if it comes to it, I want my kids to live long healthy lives.
There are a lot of us oldsters and near-oldsters here on FR. I doubt a single one of us would please “Save me...don’t give that ventilator to my son or daughter.”
But wouldn’t the youngsters say “No, don’t let my mom and dad die, or my grandparents!”?
So, age or wisdom?
