For the past two days, New Yorkers have been dying at a rate of one every 17 minutes, according to the latest grim citywide statistics.
On both Thursday and Friday, another 84 people died in the city from the coronavirus, as the number of positive cases and of those who are critically ill also climbed.
The COVID-19 death toll in the city was 450 as of Friday evening, up from 366 reported fatalities in the morning.
Total citywide coronavirus cases rose to 26,697, up 4.4 percent from the 25,573 reported in the morning.
Mayor de Blasio warned Friday that critical resources to combat the outbreak in the country’s epicenter could run out by Sunday, April 5, as hospitals remain completely overwhelmed.

worldometers, under their “Mortality Rate” heading, says that calculation of total deaths divided by current cases is a flawed formula when the event is active. It’s ok to use it after it’s over.
they say using total deaths divided by total cases - 7 days is more accurate.(I still don’t buy it - still seems like a WAGs based on their estimate incubation period of 2-14 days and 0-27 days)
Most of these stats come from WHO reporting on China...should we even be using this model?

I heard the Flu shut down NYC and infected the royal family several pools of wax. The flu also Sent two ships out to assist and basically quarantined the entire world except for brazil and Sweden. The flu killed 30k more now then it did in January when this started happening

Actually, they are a CDC report. Problem is, flu isn’t tested for with everyone that has a symptoms. The flu swag is more reliable than this dramabug swag you;re using.
I agree we’ll only know the real rates only after a couple of weeks of flat growth in new cases.
There’s definitely inconsistent data from various countries, I don’t believe China in the least. I’ve been more focused on the USA section and the breakdown between each State.

OK, a gentle musing. If this thing is as horrible as it is made out to be, why didn’t it go to Shanghai or Beijing or Hong Kong or any other the other million-plus cities in Southeast Asia? China is one of the most mobile societies that there is. High-speed trains, buses, airplanes, cars. Yet, it only grew in one city in comparison with something like Kansas City to us. I have several friends in China that I keep up with on WeChat. None of them knew of anyone who caught it. It was always a friend of a friend of a friend’s aunt.
And as for coughing up blood, I get strep throat about once every four years and I cough it up. Same with anyone who gets a sinus infection.
Shanghai was shut down for a month, and barely opened something like a week ago. Thousands of containers of refrigerated foods lie rotting on the docks, and written off.
As of February, cargo coming in from China was down 45%, mostly because Shanghai was shut down.
China shut down most of their country for more than a month. And in China, the shut down is not a suggestion as it was here.

I finally figured out why the wuhaVirus is so deadly. It’s been fortified with social media. It’s H1N1 on “social media” steroids.

Also, if you’re truly coughing up blood from strep throat or a sinus infection, get to a doc, stat.

If all you’re doing is *coughing* up, or blowing out a few drops or light streaks of blood, when you’re sick w/strep/sinus...that’s much different than a person who is coughing up blood from their lungs.
Unreal to even see this comparison.
