All Los Angeles County beaches are closing temporarily in an effort to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus as the number of confirmed cases topped 1,400 Friday, officials said.
The countywide closures come after large crowds of beachgoers were seen at beaches last weekend, despite stay-at-home orders and calls for social distancing.
“The crowds we saw at our beaches last weekend were unacceptable,” Supervisor Janice Hahn said in a written statement. “In order to save lives, beaches in LA County will be temporarily closed."
The order goes into effect "immediately" and runs through April 19, 2020, according to the L.A. County Department of public health.
Officials said beaches will reopen when public health officials deem it safe.

Yes, a contaminated droplet could fall onto a grain of sand, and then days later get kicked up onto someone else’s face and infect them, and both of those people are sure to die.

There is one “social distance” restriction that I’d like to see enforced. The one about inner city feral savages getting closer than that to knock out old White guys, or to rape young White girls, or to steal their wallets.
Enforce that and we’ll all be much better off.
(Obviously the dems are not going to enforce that. They encourage it.)
You could have this both ways. The beach could be open and people could keep their distance. It’s a f’n beach not a phone booth sheesh.
You ARE being sarcastic. No virus is going to survive the sun and saltwater. IMHO, the virus is spread by everybody staying inside, not going outside.
I think people would do well to go to the beach and quit recycling the indoor air of their homes. Just don't set your towel next to someone else.

I wonder if the homeless tents in LA and SF and everywhere else in CA all have the delineated 6’ of clear space enforced around them? Cause god knows all the authorities in CA only care about the people’s safety and welfare.
