My understanding is that most of these election reforms were supported and voted for by the Republicans.
Republicans being Republicans. At least if you vote in the Republicans with Trump he can browbeat them to get what he needs. The election reforms promise to make it impossible to elect Republicans including Trump or anyone else unfavored by the DNC unless Donald has something up his sleeve and he may. Sometimes it is hard but I have realized way back in the 2016 election campaign that it is foolish to second guess Donald Trump.
