They haven’t started yet? Sure, let another thousand people die first.

I don’t get it. Imagine the backlash if next week, they start trials, and it turns out it is actually a miracle, and it stops 90% of deaths.

How do you then face the hundreds of families whose loved ones died between the time Trump noted this was a possible cure, and the time you managed to start the trial?

The politicians will not do that. They have armed bodyguards to keep angry relatives of the deceased from approaching them. They don't actually care about a few dead peasants.

And they don't really want a cure right now anyway, at last not one available to the peasantry. The pandemic offers too many opportunities for politicians to seize and consolidate totalitarian powers. It is in their best interests to let it run on a little longer.

But if they get sick, you can bet that they will use every possible treatment to save themselves.
