They can’t replicate on their own. They need to invade a cell and use the cell’s replicating mechanism to do that.

It’s quite a trick when you think about it.

What they do is nothing short of remarkable. They have a key to get into the cell. Then once they break inside they essentially take over the cells dna and insert their owns genes in it and the cells mechanism then produces the proteins necessary to make new virus and somehow all those proteins get assembled into new viruses, thousands of them!

Correct me if I am wrong, but many of their replicants are defective. And can not replicate themselves.

That’s what I was referring to.

Yes, they are remarkable little buggers.
