County level census data was released today. I have downloaded the Maine files and done some analysis on them. Only two of 16 Maine counties had more births than deaths over the last 10 years and only one, albeit 8 births, had more least year.

Over 10 years, 10 counties gained population while six lost population. In the last year, just two counties lost population with 14 gaining population. One third of Maine's population growth happened last year.

It always takes nine months after the census year ends to get this level of data. The only thing left is the city and town data.
